Job Description
Company Description
At Lakeshore, we create innovative learning materials and world-class guest experiences for teachers, parents and children. Since 1954, we’ve grown into a global community—with a thriving e-commerce business, multiple catalogs, 60+ retail stores, a peerless national sales force, plus international offices that support our preeminent supply chain division. But today we’re working better, smarter and faster than ever—and setting our sights even higher. We’re building an infrastructure designed for scalability, embracing data-driven decision-making and using technology to improve efficiency and ensure the best tools for the best work. Most importantly, we continue to invest in a diverse team of inquisitive top talent who fuel each other’s passions and curiosity, take risks, try new things, and believe that every new day brings opportunities for growth.

Our people are at the heart of our success.
That’s why our continued investment in our people—including employee engagement, DE&I, and attracting, developing and retaining top talent—has never been greater. Lakeshore’s People Team is growing, and we are currently searching for a dynamic HR Business Partner to align business objectives with our employees and management in designated business units. Reporting to our Senior Director of Retail HR, you will create partnerships across the Retail field to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects our business objectives. If this sounds like you—and you’re an amazing person to work with—we’d love you on our team!
A day in the office looks like this:
  • Participating in the evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success; following up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Building and engaging in talent reviews and performance management processes to ensure internal talent is developed effectively, and that gaps are appropriately identified and addressed.
  • Providing HR policy guidance and interpretation
  • Providing guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, organizational design, and succession planning
  • Working closely with Retail store management, Territory Managers, Senior Regional Directors, and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Consulting with Retail management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Serving as the central point of contact for all field-related HR matters in the 28+ stores in the Eastern Region, including HR operational tasks
  • Partnering with Retail recruiters to support efforts to fully staff stores.
  • Maintaining knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring compliance, partnering with the legal department.
  • Establishing compensation strategy based on internal and external market research to incorporate into the business.
  • Managing and resolving complex employee relations issues; conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations
  • Providing day-to-day performance management guidance to Retail management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
  • Integrating and partnering with COEs in the Retail Field Operations, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, HR Operations, Legal & Compliance, and Benefits teams to implement solutions to support business scale and expansion.
  • Leveraging workforce analytics to execute HR dashboards, ad hoc reports, and employee engagement surveys to identify HR trends.
