- The Supervisor reports directly to and collaborates with the Restaurant Manager to ensure the proper supervision and management of staff, daily operations of the Fargo, and maintenance of high standards of food, service, health and safety, and guest experience.
- Ensure staff is aware of restaurant policies and procedures including service standard for F&B and guest service standards
- Closely monitor guest dining experiences
- Manage and remediate staff conflicts; participate in disciplinary action at Restaurant Manager’s discretion
- Assist in the training, supervision, and monitoring of food sanitation and safety procedures in the dining rooms, bar and service areas
- Supervise settlement of guest bills in accordance with hotel and/or restaurant policy
- Build positive clientele relationships with repeat guests
- Report all restaurant complaints and communicate day-to-day matters to Restaurant Manager
- Assist in inventory on weekly/monthly basis
- Follow up on accounting issues and resolve accordingly
- Maintain a strong presence in the restaurant; ensure guests are greeted at the door and their orders are taken promptly and correctly
- Train and monitor compliance of staff with guest check procedures
- Assist the service team as needed with day-to-day operations
- Ensure cleanliness of restaurant and bar areas before, during and after meal periods
- Demonstrate the leadership qualities as outlined in the Leadership Job Requirement Chart
- Monitor and communicate all restaurant supply needs to Restaurant Manager
- Monitor food and beverage presentations and monitor expediting process
- Guest Operations:
- Ensure all employees adhere to code of conduct and company’s uniform standards, as defined in the IOA handbook
- Assist Restaurant Manager in personally responding to all guest complaints
- Maintain and promote cleanliness standards, quality control, hygiene, health and safety
- Coordinate opening and closing procedures
- Inventory Management/Financials:
- Personnel Management:
- Contribute to creation and maintenance of bar menus
- Manage cash drawer throughout the shift and during opening/closing procedures, as necessary
- Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the hotel and restaurant, including but not limited to, those contained in the employee handbook
- Ensure alcohol awareness programs, such as TIPS, are followed
- Put away beverage orders in the proper storage locations
qualifications:
- Experience with Micros software
- Flexibility with hourly schedules, including weekend, holiday, and evening availabilities
- TIPS certifications; will train as needed
- Ability to manage team of servers, hosts, bartenders, and other Inns of Aurora restaurant employees
- Specialized historical knowledge of the Cayuga County and Village of Aurora area
- Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience of 10 or more employees
- Extensive knowledge of the arts, culture, viniculture, agriculture, and history of the Finger Lakes and Inns of Aurora
- Ability to multi-task effectively under fast-paced working conditions
- Serving experience and experience with inventory management
- 4+ years of Hospitality experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, and general computer literacy
- Must demonstrate a professional’s demeanor and possess interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain neat, professional, and clean appearance and practices
- Knowledge and understanding of workplace safety procedures
