Looking for a Part-Time Job with Meaning?

As a Resource Referral Specialist you will be an important part of a team helping people quit using tobacco. You will take incoming calls from people seeking to enroll in treatment with the Maine QuitLink, complete their registration and intake, and schedule their first appointment. You will also call out to people who have been referred to the program and offer to register them. Part-time RRSs work 12pm to 6:00pm Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday. Training is provided. You can work in our Portland office or remotely (after completing initial training). This position is benefits eligible.

Position Summary

This is a professional position which facilitates the provision of quality customer services for clients. Serves as the Resource and Referral Specialist for the applicable service area. Provides information about the program to callers and walk-in inquiries and does initial eligibility screening, scheduling applicant for comprehensive program intake and enrollment services, or other health related services and referrals as needed and appropriate. Assists with other tasks related to enrollment, re-enrollment, prescription assistance, care management, and other projects as assigned, to ensure members can access care as necessary. Initiates and prepares applications to assist enrollees in applying for free medications provided through the program. Coordinates with network providers' offices, members and companies to track the status of applications & other related documentation to determine if medications have been received by members. Advocates on behalf of members.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Experience: See "Education." General knowledge of state and federal agencies, community resources, and regulations acquired through no less than 2 years of experience in social/human services, health care management or related field.
  • Strong customer service, teamwork, resource knowledge and advocacy skills are essential.
  • Requires significant initiative, independent judgment and discretion.
  • Excellent verbal skills in order to explain policies and procedures to applicants, enrollees, providers and the public.
  • Education: High school level of knowledge preferred and at least two years' advanced education and experience to prepare reports, perform calculations, complete forms and write business letters.

    • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively, compassionately and cordially interact with the public including health care providers and applicants.
    • Excellent verbal skills in order to explain policies and procedures to applicants, enrollees, providers and the public.
