About the Department

The Department of Neurology at The University of Chicago Medical Center has a great history and tradition, having made significant contributions to neurological training, clinical care, and the basic understanding of neurological disease.

Job Summary

The Research Technical Assistant provides basic technical support activities related to scientific research projects. Complies with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates. Assists in drafting presentations on research findings.

This position assists in aspects of human aging and dementia research including SuperAging research. Performs biomedical &/or social-behavioral research by administering tests &/or questionnaires following protocols; collecting, compiling, tabulating &/or processing responses; gathering information; &/or assisting in the preparation of material for inclusion in reports. Completes all activities by strictly following Good Clinical Practices (GCP) & all relevant current local, state, & federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy & procedure developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), & the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH). Primary responsibilities may include neuropsychological test administration and scoring, escorting participants to MRI scans, data entry, participant recruitment and/or scheduling, preparing and summarizing data for presentations, and monitoring aspects of the protocol for compliance, analysis of MR scans, and performing other related work as needed.

  • This job provides technical and administrative support in a laboratory environment performing basic laboratory techniques, research and analysis under direction.
  • Completes all activities by strictly following Good Clinical Practices (GCP) & all relevant current local, state, & federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy & procedure developed by the NU Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), & the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH).
  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.
  • Primary responsibilities may include neuropsychological test administration and scoring, data entry, participant recruitment and/or scheduling, maintaining equipment and supplies, assisting with developing or amending study protocols, preparing and summarizing data for presentations, and monitoring aspects of the protocol for compliance.
  • Performs biomedical &/or social-behavioral research by administering tests &/or questionnaires following protocols; collecting, compiling, tabulating &/or processing responses; gathering information; &/or assisting in the preparation of material for inclusion in reports.
  • Assists in aspects of human aging and dementia research including The Communication Bridge Program.
  • Collects and enters data. Assists in analysis of data and with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
  • Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.
  • Provides routine or standardized laboratory duties by collecting data in support of research projects under direct supervision.
  • Complies with institution, state and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives, and mandates.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.
