Assistant Designer Jobs

• This will be a hybrid role that will be on-site 2 days a week in Hoffman Estates, IL***

The Assistant Designer is responsible for assisting the design/buying team with trend right and age appropriate sketches and designs. Daily responsibilities include working with the designer to create an assortment of handbags, SLGs, and fashion accessories, tech packing, creating up to date line sheets, and following through with samples to final production.

• Create and keep up to date line sheets and contact sheets: visual tools used to communicate the designs and approvals for the season.
• Organizing samples, approvals, and maintain departmental storage/swatch area.
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Meet all calendar deadlines
• Work with the designer and senior design manager to create original/proprietary product designs in a broad range of product categories including handbags, small leather goods, and fashion accessories (hats, gloves, etc.)
• Prepare and send all tech packs to overseas offices/vendors, meeting fast paced deadlines.
• Communicate with sourcing offices and vendors about approvals, changes, and execution of product.

Requirements

• Artistic ability a plus: hand sketching, painting, artistic hand and eye
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge/skills in Adobe Suites: Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign
• Bachelor’s degree in Design required, from art university in illustration/art/graphics preferred
• Able to work in a team environment: Multiple design and buying teams
• An elevated sense of style and taste in fashion and room décor
• Strong organizational skills and ability to follow up on tasks
