Job Description

Position Description:

The laboratory of Dr. Naoto T. Ueno at the University of Hawaii Cancer Center (UHCC) located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i is seeking a motivated and talented researcher to join our multidisciplinary team. This is a Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position in Cancer Biology Program at the UHCC. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

Our lab focuses on understanding the aggressiveness of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and inflammatory breast cancer (IBC), as well as the immune modulation of the tumor microenvironment, and developing effective immunochemotherapies for TNBC/IBC using cutting-edge approaches. Our mission is to establish targeted therapies that will transform the lives of patients suffering from these devastating diseases.

The successful candidate will assist the principal investigator to investigate the mechanisms underlying tumorigenesis and metastasis of TNBC/IBC, expose the immune modulation of the tumor microenvironment, and develop optimal immunochemotherapies using state-of-the-art technologies, including humanized/transgenic mouse modeling, immune profiling, RNA-sequencing, single-cell RNA sequencing, multiplexed immunofluorescence staining, and other in vitro and in vivo models. The candidate will also assist with preparation of progress reports, abstracts, and manuscripts.

Eligibility Requirements:

·Bachelor’s (required) or Master’s (preferred) degree from an accredited college or university in Natural Sciences or related fields.

·Have a background in molecular biology, cell biology, cancer biology, or related fields.

·One to three years of work experience in a biology research laboratory.

·Have experience in cell culture, mouse handling, and basic molecular biology assays (PCR, Western blotting, ELISA, and immunohistochemistry) and strong data management skills.

·Highly motivated and self-driven individuals with strong research capabilities.
