Synthis is a pre-clinical stage, startup biotech company based in New York City that is developing first in class, immuno-oncology therapeutics to treat cancer patients. We are looking for creative and experienced people, who think outside of the proverbial box, to join our growing team of scientists. Immuno-oncology or oncology experience is preferred. Prior experience in drug discovery or the pharmaceutical industry is an added bonus, particularly with biologics such as antibodies or ADCs. The successful candidate is responsible for conducting independent drug discovery experiments with Synthis’ novel drugs as well as managing day to day lab operations.
On the science side, experience in primary human immune cell culture (T cell subsets, PBMCs, T-dendritic cell assays, MLRs, etc) and cell based assays (ELISA, cytotoxicity, proliferation, effector functions) are required. Prior experience in flow cytometry is essential. In addition, familiarity with molecular biology (cloning, QPCR, subcloning, mini/maxi preps, lenti-viral construction and infection, RNA prep/RT-PCR etc) and some protein handling (Western blots, IP) will be required. Typical lab operations and responsibilities would include ordering, maintaining lab supplies and stock, lab organization, on-boarding new hires, etc.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates intellectual input into the design of the project.
- Prepares figures and diagrams for presentations and publications.
- Generates hypotheses and designs and performs experiments to test them.
- Day to day lab operations
- Executes multiple experiments simultaneously over time independently.
- Presents findings at lab meeting, responds to challenges, and participates in exchanges of ideas to advance the science.
- Based on results, independently suggests and tests modifications to protocols.
- Records all experimental findings in a laboratory notebook, analyze and interpret experimental findings.
- Reads and understands relevant scientific literature.
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Communicates results and collaborates with other professionals in the lab.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience in pharma, drug screening or testing of biologics (antibody, ADCs, bispecifics) or small molecules preferred
- To qualify you must have a College degree with a B.S. or M.S. in Biological Sciences, including Immunology, Cell Biology, or Cancer Biology
- A minimum commitment of two years is required
- Previous lab experience in immuno-oncology, immunology or oncology-based assays required
