Job Description
Job Summary


Coordinate Upstate Health Sciences Library's evidence synthesis services: help researchers and students navigate the evidence synthesis process from protocol to publication; serve as an active participant on systematic, scoping, rapid, and umbrella review teams; develop and execute complex systematic search strategies; use citation and review management software (Endnote, RefWorks, Covidence, RevMan Web, etc.); mentor and train other librarians in evidence synthesis methods and best practices.


Provide reference services: Participate in the rotating librarian on-call schedule, answer questions via email, phone, and chat; perform literature searches in support of curricula, scholarship, and patient care; provide scholarly communications services including journal matching and bibliometrics; engage with students and complete mediated searches, support liaison relationships, and provide database assistance.


Serve on library, faculty, and university-wide committees.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Strong service orientation and evidence of skills needed to foster new connections and build relationships.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Experience developing and executing search strategies in a variety of biomedical databases.
  • Excellent oral and written interpersonal communication skills; highly developed teaching and presentation skills; evidence of ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • ALA-accredited Master's degree in library information science or commensurate degree with relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications


  • AHIP certification
  • Experience providing information services to, and collaborating with biomedical and health sciences students, educators, researchers, and clinicians.
  • Experience in developing, conducting, and updating systematic search strategies as demonstrated by a publication record or manuscript acknowledgment.
  • Experience with review management software and tools (ex. Covidence, RevMan Web)
  • Familiarity with documentation and reporting standards for systematic reviews.
