The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (PBSCI) within the UW School of Medicine is the third largest clinical department with 285 full-time faculty members, 280 clinical faculty members, and over 300 staff. Department faculty provide clinical services in 5 hospitals, 14 primary care locations, and several outpatient sites in addition to telepsychiatry consultations to more than 150 clinics in Washington and beyond. As the only academic psychiatry department serving the five state WWAMI region (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, Idaho), the Department’s highly competitive residency training program is largely responsible for developing the mental health workforce in the Pacific Northwest. The Department’s robust research portfolio totals $35 million in grants and contracts per year for projects ranging from clinical neurosciences to treatment development to health policy and population health. The Department is recognized as an international leader in developing, testing, and implementing Collaborative Care, an integrated care model increasingly seen as a solution for population-based mental health care. The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is recruiting for a full time Research Analyst 3.
POSITION PURPOSE
The University of Washington Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences CoLab for Community & Behavioral Health Policy (CoLab) is currently seeking a full time Research Analyst 3 to join our team. The CoLab’s research engages community expertise and research evidence to spark creative and sustainable change in behavioral health policy and systems, particularly those involving youth and families. The CoLab includes the Evidence Based Practice Institute (EBPI), a statewide resource to promote high quality mental health services for children and youth in Washington State. Under the direction of the Research Manager, the Research Analyst assists with data collection and visualization including management of data storage, preparation, cleaning, and analysis. This position would work across project teams to broadly support activities related to planning for data analysis needs, developing forms and procedures for reporting research information, and establishing project data requirements and collection methods.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design measurement instruments (e.g., forms, questionnaires), scoring systems, and related procedures for collecting and summarizing data

  • Assist with participant tracking and incentives

  • Manage database creation, data cleaning, entry, and visualization

  • Monitor data quality control to ensure adherence to project protocol

  • Use statistical and database management programs to compile, analyze, and summarize data

  • Prepare reports, graphs, tables, charts and illustrations for internal review, formative and summative reports to partners/funders, and presentations

  • Conduct literature review, summary, and retrieval of scientific articles

  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
    A Bachelor's Degree including college-level course work in statistics AND two years of work experience as a Research Analyst II OR equivalent education/experience.
    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to effectively communicate in person and on the phone with study participants and community partners

  • Knowledge of software applications including proficiency using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & Access)

  • Experience working with community-based research

  • Experience working with adolescents and families from diverse ethnic backgrounds

  • Experience with literature review software (e.g., Zotero, EndNote), data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R), and web-based survey platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, REDCap)

  • Self-directed and independent decision-making ability

  • Experience in the field of supporting academic research
