Job Description

Position Responsibilities

  • Other data collection tools.
  • Assists in identifying agency information gaps.
  • Effectively manages and tracks timelines, requirements, and deliverables of assigned work.
  • Conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Collects, organizes, and maintains research data.
  • Assists in the preparation of presentations.
  • Provides actionable insights that improve the customer experience.
  • Gathers requirements to develop research projects.
  • Survey questionnaires,
  • Identifies and applies appropriate social-science methodological approaches to research problems.
  • Assesses the success of customer and employee-focused initiatives.
  • Applies best practices to develop:
  • Focus group discussion guides, and
  • Conducts literature reviews, background research, and best-practice reviews on topics of strategic importance to the agency that have sociological / psychological aspects (e.g., customer experience metrics and targets, factors that influence travel-mode choices, etc.).


Essential Duties


  1. Research: Under general supervision, contributes to research projects. Including development of research objectives, project design and methodology, implementation, analysis, reporting, presentation, and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data.
  2. Data: Ensures data integrity, suitability for purpose, and accurate interpretation of analyses. Collects, organizes, and maintains research data.
  3. Engagement and advocacy: Enables, supports, and encourages use of data in decision-making. Engages internal partners in the development, use and integration of data. Serves as a subject matter expert to internal partners. Regularly provides presentations and guidance to internal audiences.
  4. Organization: Manages assigned work by setting clear, reasonable expectations, and facilitating delivery and achievement of those expectations. Manages competing priorities and interests.
  5. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Two years’ experience developing qualitative data collection tools (e.g., survey questionnaires, focus group discussion guides, etc.).
  • Two years’ experience conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis of social-science or related data.
  • A bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, marketing, research, or similar field.

An equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in SurveyMonkey, SQL, Python and / or R.
  • Knowledge of public transit: planning, marketing, and operations.
  • Experience designing marketing personas.
  • Expertise in advanced data techniques (e.g., Multivariate Regression, Forecasting, Clustering, Text analysis, Machine Learning, etc.).
  • Experience in guiding teams or projects and applying project management methods and techniques.
  • A Master’s degree or Ph.D. in social sciences.
  • Knowledge of alternative / innovative transportation strategies.

Skills
