Job Summary
Reporting to and under general direction of the Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness Institutional Effectiveness, the Research Analyst designs and conducts analytical, research and evaluation studies, analytics, and assessment studies of considerable scope in support of the Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE). The Research Analyst is responsible for querying large-scale institutional databases; troubleshooting and manipulating data; creating reports; filling cyclical and ad-hoc data requests and reporting requirements; preparing interpretive analyses and presenting research findings in narrative and graphic forms; and effectively interacting with the university community and external constituencies in carrying out these responsibilities.
Key Qualifications
This position requires the equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university. (Additional qualifying professional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.) Three years of progressively responsible technical research or statistical experience including or supplemented by one year in the interpretation and graphic presentation of data. Graduate study in the social sciences, economics, mathematics, statistics, public or business administration or engineering may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Experience developing electronic surveys in order to gather and analyze data about human behavior, perceptions, and knowledge required. Significant professional experience querying and reporting from complex information systems such as PeopleSoft (preferably academic and student data) required. Significant experience in a large, complex and diverse higher education setting and experience supporting institutional self-studies for re-accreditation highly preferred. Advanced proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required. Experience with Tableau, SQL, and PeopleSoft strongly preferred. Knowledge of Google Suite, Veera Construct, Qualtrics, and electronic communication methods and tools (web design, storyboarding, videos, infographics) preferred.
Salary and Benefits
Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $4,789 to $5,417 a month. This is a full time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.
This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.
