Research Analyst Jobs

The Research Analyst assists with the execution of studies essential to addressing planning and policy matters of significance to government agencies at the local, state, and federal levels. For rapid response, short-term research studies, the research analyst individually plans and executes short duration research or consulting projects.
UCLA ITS is an interdisciplinary center that advances cutting-edge research and education on travel and transportation systems. UCLA ITS is a member of the University of California ITS Multicampus Research Unit, which entails close collaborations with partners at Berkeley, Davis, and Irvine.

Required/Preferred
Master's degree in urban planning, public policy, political science, economics, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Two years of research or analytical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience All Required

Demonstrated academic knowledge of transportation policy and planning All Required
Required
Knowledge of quantitative analytical methods appropriate for social science and demonstrated skills using quantitative analysis software

Knowledge of qualitative research methods including interviews, case studies, and coding techniques

Skill in using spatial analysis software or web services for research purposes
Required
Demonstrated skill in writing and editing concise, logical, and grammatically-correct correspondence, proposals, informational documents, and academic works

Highly organized with demonstrated ability to use collaborative project management tools to compile information, delegate project tasks, communicate responsibilities and expectations, and track progress

Ability to supervise, delegate to, effectively communicate with, and coach graduate student and undergraduate student researchers

Ability to use web-based collaboration and project management systems, including Google Drive, Google Apps, Asana, and Doodle
