The Remote/Hybrid Instructional Designer III is an essential role at Missouri Online to ensure quality course design, faculty professional development, development of new online programs and continuous improvement of existing online programs, and opportunities related to online and blended learning. Provides pedagogical and curricular consultation and design following accepted online design standards. Collaborates with university stakeholders including but not limited to media designers, program coordinators, academic technology specialists, and other colleagues to design and implement student-centered, engaging learning experiences for online courses and programs according to best practices in the field. Mentor other instructional designers, leads initiatives, and/or provides project oversight.

The position will:
- Assist in preparing faculty for successful online teaching
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
- Bring opportunities for refinement and enhancement of departmental services and internal processes to the attention of direct supervisor(s)
- Serve as a mentor for other instructional designers and assist with onboarding of new colleagues and processes
- Provide professional and timely support to faculty in the areas of pedagogy, online course development, learning experience design, and implementation of appropriate educational technologies
- Complete course quality reviews and support faculty through quality improvements to their courses as a result of review feedback
- Facilitate consultations, workshops, or other events in areas of instructional design
- Cultivate collaborative and professional working relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators within Missouri Online and across campuses in the UM System
- Collaborate with colleagues and instructors to design and develop student-centered learning experiences
- Seek opportunities for personal professional development to improve instructional design knowledge and skills and stay abreast of industry trends and standards; share that knowledge internally to continually grow the knowledge base of the larger design team
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
The ideal Instructional Design III candidate will preferably possess a combination of the following skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- A collaborative and inclusive approach to running and participating in projects
- Strong knowledge of various learning theories, instructional design models, and learning experience design frameworks
- Desire and ability to present at local, regional, state, and national events as opportunities allow
- Knowledge of current accessibility standards and best practices
- Project management and organization skills
- Comfort in speaking with campus and academic unit leaders across universities
- The ability to proactively listen in order to identify underlying needs and problems
- High written and verbal communication skills, especially in regards to coaching faculty and colleagues toward appropriate outcomes
Salary
Salary Range: $60,000-$68,815
GGS Grade: 10

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree or 5+ years in a relevant field.
