Job Description

Summary:


Publishing.com is seeking a highly creative and talented Product Designer to join our Design team.The ideal candidate will have a strong portfolio showcasing their design skills and ability to work on a variety of projects.The Product Designer will be responsible for creating user-friendly, visually appealing layouts, designs, concepts, and user experiences that are functional and that fit perfectly within the current product.

Publishing.com is an online education company, founded by Rasmus and Christian Mikkelsen, that gives regular, everyday people the education and tools they need to create consistent streams of passive income by selling books and audiobooks on Amazon and Audible. We are a team of 55 with over 30,000 paying customers and over $50 million in revenue in just a few years. Our book, The Freedom Shortcut is also a Wall Street Journal Bestseller and is a great introduction to how anyone can find financial freedom through publishing.


Responsibilities:


  • Define the right interaction model and evaluate its success
  • Create personas through user research and data
  • Understand product specifications and user psychology
  • Keep abreast of competitor products and industry trends
  • Develop wireframes and prototypes around customer needs
  • Come up with attractive high-fidelity designs
  • Communicate design ideas and prototypes to developers
  • Conduct concept and usability testing and gather feedback
  • Find creative ways to solve UX problems (e.g. usability, findability)

Successful candidate attributes and requirements:


  • Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly with all stakeholders.
  • Must be proficient in Figma.
  • Advanced knowledge of design fundamentals for digital products and websites.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proven experience as a Product Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing design skills.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in product design.
  • Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and other graphic design software).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must have graphic design experience to assist our design team on tasks such as banners, ads, thumbnails, and covers. All sitting within already defined brand guidelines.


Timeline for success:


7 days:


Get to know the company: Spend time getting to know the company & culture.Learn about the company's core values, short & long-term goals, vision, mission, and how your role fits into the larger picture.

Understand the product we're building: Get familiar with our product history and vision. Understand and master all the features, you should be able to act as a power-user and tester of the app.

14 Days:


Start contributing: Start contributing by rolling out new features with clear and defined briefs by using the existing components library and style guide.

Collaborate effectively: Fully understand all our processes and be proficient in collaborating with the leadership and engineering teams.


30 Days:


Take ownership: Show initiative during the research & brainstorming phases by proposing solutions to the problems we encounter.

Conduct user-testing: Be familiar with the user’s behavior on the product and conduct user interviews to gather valuable feedback that will have a major impact on future updates.

Master the product: You should be able to propose new concepts and create new features from scratch with a limited brief and grow our design system with new components that fit perfectly within the existing library.

Salary range:


From $70k to $95k per year depending on profile, skills, and experience.
