Work Location: Lennar Foundtion Medical Center, Coral Gables, FL
The Medicine Department has opportunities for Covid19 Registered Nurses (RN). The RN :
- Assist with qualify review initiatives including follow-up of abnormal pap and others testing, follow-up of on-call answering service encounters, ER referrals and SACC reports.
- Maintain current knowledge of CDC COVID guidelines and University COVID policies.
- Participate in staff meetings as needed.
- The COVID RN may also assist at the Student Health Clinic as needed.
- Contact all students who report symptoms on their daily Symptom Checker to assess whether they need to schedule an appointment with a Student Health provider.
- Follow-up with students whose COVID test results are inconclusive/invalid and schedules the student for a second test.
- Triage patients including patient verification, visit reason, recording vital signs and reviewing immunization compliance.
- Assist medical providers during procedures including suture and removal, I&D and gynecologic examinations
- Coordinate with UM Housing to arrange for isolation/quarantine rooms for residential students.
- Coordinate with COVID APRN Lead on issues/concerns with students or parents and inform Medical Director as needed.
- The COVID RN reports to the COVID APRN Lead and Student Health Medical Director.
- Responsible for adhering to all quality assurance and infection control guidelines including the University’s Environmental Health and Safety, Infection Control, OSHA and Joint Commission policies and procedures.
- Call all students at the end of their isolation/quarantine period to determine if they meet the guidelines to return to campus.
- The COVID RN is responsible for clinical assessment and nursing care for students with confirmed or possible exposure to COVID.
- Respond to and assist with urgencies and emergencies, seeking assistance from medical providers and other as appropriate
- Works at the Student Health Clinic as needed.
- Administer injections including immunizations, allergy injections, medications and PPD testing.
- Weekly rotations at the Student Health COVID Testing Site for on-site student support as needed.
- Responsibilities include notifying students of test results, assist COVID APRN with student monitoring, answering COVID phone calls and emails from students, and entering/updating COVID cases within Salesforce.
- The successful candidate will be able to create and maintain an environment of patient-focused care, anticipating and appropriately responding to student needs and ensuring that the student’s overall experience meets or exceeds standards of medical care.
- Work with other triage staff to perform clinical support services including EKG, vision screening, ear lavage, wound care, glucose monitoring, nebulizer treatments, spirometry, pulse oximetry, IV insertion and oxygen administration.
- Enter all COVID cases into Salesforce for monitoring and follow-up.
- Monitor student COVID test results and call all positive students to inform them of their result and initiate their isolation.
- Performs CLIA waived testing (strep, flu, urine) during off peak times
- Participates in patient education and campus outreach programs including seasonal flu and medical student PPD campaigns.
- Monitor EMR triage/appointment screen and prioritize patient intake according to visit reasons, available staff and established provider to maintain overall patient flow.
- Answer the COVID line to assist students and parents as needed.
- Other duties as assigned including hurricane duty and other after hours or weekend activities emergencies.
- Responsible for daily inspections of crash cart and AED machine.
- Call all close contacts identified by UTrace to initiate quarantine.
- Monitor the COVID Mailbox in Salesforce for student and parent emails.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor of Science in nursing
Certification and Licensing:
Registered Nurse License; Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
Experience:
3 years related experience in a medical setting
