Recreation Supervisor Jobs

The City of San Gabriel is recruiting for a Recreation Supervisor. The Recreation Supervisor is an integral position within the Community Services Department responsible for an array of citywide social and recreation programs. Base Salary: $6,415 - $7,797 per month

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced recreation services professional with the proven ability to work effectively with a diverse community. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills and outstanding interpersonal tact. The candidate must also have the ability to develop innovative and engaging programs, supervise assigned personnel, motivate employees, foster a supportive and empowering team environment, and effectively communicate and make presentations to the Community Services Commission and/or the City Council as needed. The ideal candidate will also have strong computer application skills, with particular proficiency in using Microsoft Publisher, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and other related applications. Most importantly, the ideal candidate has outstanding leadership qualities, judgment, supervisory experience, and the ability to deliver quality programs and services to the community.

Under the general supervision of the Community Services Manager, the Recreation Supervisor plans, organizes, supervises, and evaluates a variety of recreation programs, special events, social services and operational activities; prepares marketing materials and supervises publicity of recreation events and programs; assists in the development, administration, and monitoring of assigned program budgets; responds to inquiries, complaints, and/or requests for information from interested community groups and citizens regarding recreational programs, events, and other services; directly supervises and trains subordinate staff; and performs other related duties as assigned. This position is required to work periodic evenings and weekends.

Education & Experience Requirements

Any combination of experience and education may be considered. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation, public administration, or a closely related field; and,

• Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in recreation programming and budgeting, with at least one year of supervisory experience.
