Job Description


The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Department of Human Services (DHS) merged on July 1, 2022, to form one agency, the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). We are seeking a Receptionist to join the team at the Independence Mental Health Institute (IMHI). This is a full-time position with opportunity for advancement, growth, and development.


The primary responsibilities of the Receptionist/Switchboard Operator are receiving and directing phone calls as well as assisting visitors at the facility. The standard work schedule is 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Tuesday through Friday. Additional times and different shifts (either day, afternoon or night) along with some weekend work will be required to help cover our 24/7 operation. Additional duties, including some clerical tasks, will also be assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements


The equivalent of one year of full-time experience in general office, sales, reception, tour guide or related work experience which involved direct and regular contact with people;


OR


graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalency;


OR


satisfactory completion of a recognized job-related training course at the high school or equivalent level (MDTA, CEP, WIN, etc.) for the required experience.
