Job Title: FCMC Medical Clinic Receptionist

Department: FCMC Medical Clinic

Reports To: FCMC Medical Clinic Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours: Two Part-time slots available 20-25.5/Week

Shift: Days

A non-profit critical access hospital, we house 20 beds in our acute care facility and 35 beds in our nursing facility. FCMC was recognized as one of the “Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals” in the nation for four consecutive years from 2017-2020. Always committed to improvement, we are working to be in the top 20 critical access hospitals and are also currently constructing a new 24,000 square foot medical office to bring better access, accommodations, and services to the community.

WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR FCMC:

  • Scanning and filing documents into the office system
  • Our receptionists provide excellent customer service to every patient who comes through the doors of Willow Valley, FCMC's clinic and urgent care facility. As both the first and last impression of Franklin County Medical Center, the warmth and helpfulness of our receptionists ensure that patients have a good experience. Some of our receptionists’ important duties include:
  • Greeting clients and informing them of their appointment status
  • Answering incoming phone calls and delivering messages to appropriate personnel
  • Checking patients in and assisting with registration paperwork, including obtaining insurance information and collecting payments
  • Educating patients regarding their bill, insurance, co-payments, privacy policy, and other relevant information

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation
  • Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills and experience with customer service
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Must have basic keyboarding skills and familiarity with computers and other office equipment
  • Additional training or experience in the medical field preferred
  • Must have facilitation skills in order to support and work cooperatively with staff, patients, and external parties
  • Must have good communication skills, both written and oral, in the English language

Essential Job Functions:

  • Occasionally required to lift papers or boxes up to 35 pounds
  • Have full COVID-19 vaccination (some exemptions allowed)
  • Must submit to COVID-19 testing as required by CMS and other regulatory agencies according to FCMC policy
  • Required to sit, bend, stoop, and stretch
  • Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and calculator is required
  • Must protect patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA privacy and security requirements
  • Normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports is required
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required


Work Environment:

  • Frequent use of a Video Display Terminal and keyboard
  • FCMC operates 24 hours per day each day of the year; operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients
  • Typical office conditions with a low noise level
