Under general direction, is responsible for the planning, operation, management, and coordination of all real estate activities in the real estate section of assigned department. Working conditions are in an office environment. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.
This position is an "unclassified" position and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status and can be terminated at any time for any reason.

Work Hours
7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
- Negotiates leases and sale of City property.
- Reviews and prepares various real estate instruments used by the City using office equipment.
- Conducts inspections of property with staff and determines recommended acquisition and or disposition by touring and observing at the locations.
- Conducts presentations before the Planning Commission and City Council.
- Reviews property appraisals and acquisition procedures.
- Plans, organizes, and directs the work of the real estate staff, often communicating, actively listening and guiding.
- Serves as liaison between staff and attorneys and assists in the preparation of court cases;
- Assists the public with questions concerning acquisition of property.
- Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License.
- Three (3) years of administrative or supervisory experience.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Five (5) years of experience in real estate appraisal, property acquisition, real property management, or a directly related field.
- Knowledge and experience in negotiating municipal-owned property disposition.
- Knowledge and experience in negotiating property acquisition for capital projects.

- Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.

- Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management.
- Knowledge of deed and tract restrictions, zoning ordinances, and all other real estate instruments.
- Knowledge of projects on the agenda for City Council and Planning Commission.
- Knowledge of property values and the methods of appraising property.
- Knowledge of content and format of presentations and reports.
- Ability to render proper estimates on property damage and property appraisal.
- Knowledge of budget preparation and monitoring principles and practices.
- Knowledge of laws pertaining to the acquisition and disposition of property.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the general public.
- Knowledge of administrative and management practices.
- Ability to negotiate leasing terms, renewals, and purchase options with tenants.
- Ability to prepare materials for verbal and visual presentations.
