Omaha Track is looking for Rail Yard Laborers to join our Rail Yard in Pueblo, Colorado. The Rail Yard Laborer is responsible for performing physical labor, such as cutting, sorting, and moving materials throughout the rail yard. The Rail Yard Laborer will utilize a hand operated rail saw to cut rail as instructed.This position works outdoors year-round, in all weather elements and extreme temperatures. This position requires that you are able to perform assigned tasks safely & efficiently and that you are able to follow instructions & be team oriented.

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Participate in all job briefings and conduct proper radio communications
• Sort and move miscellaneous railroad materials, including ties, tie plates, joint bars, anchors, etc.
• Operate equipment to move materials around the Rail Yard.
• Utilize a hand operated rail saw to cut rail for a long period of time
• Report all job site incidents and injuries to the yard manager immediately
• Adhere to all railroad and Omaha Track rules and regulations
• Practice proper housekeeping with clean, properly maintained vehicles, tools, and equipment
• Complete and maintain all required safety training and certifications
• Perform general maintenance and upkeep on all company property and equipment utilized
• Ensure compliance with all safety requirements, policies, and procedures

Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrate intermediate mechanical and basic mathematical skills & effective communication skills.
• Effective listening skills, including the ability to interpret, document, and follow oral instructions
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Previous general labor experience is a plus but is not required

Work Requirements

• Ability to operate a hand operated rail saw for prolonged periods of time
• Dependable and consistent attendance/punctuality
• Ability to work outdoors in a rail yard environment subject to all elements and conditions
• Understand and accurately interpret/follow laws, rules, regulations, and other railroad/Omaha Track guidelines
• Ability to follow instructions to complete tasks independently or as a team
