Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

The Quality Technician provides support to the quality engineering function. This involves clerical duties (FAIR reports, quality performance, etc.), MRB activities, addressing shop floor, supplier and customer issues and participating in corrective action investigations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides assistance with corrective action activities.
  • Prepares documentation for the authorization of deviations from established processes/specifications.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Performs quality reporting to Quality Manager.
  • Prepares and revises quality control plans.
  • Adheres to all applicable company policies and procedures.
  • Provides shop floor support to resolve quality issues, addressing with both customers and vendors, where necessary.
  • Prepares customer documentation FAIRs, STP, etc.
  • Adheres to all statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Assists with the metrology program.
  • Participates in material review board (MRB) activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A working knowledge of basic industrial statistics (SPC/Cpk/GR&R) is highly desired.
  • Minimum high school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Associates degree in manufacturing or industrial engineering is preferred.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Technician is highly desired.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Excellent computer skills required.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions.
  • Excellent reading comprehension skills.
  • Knowledge of safety measures pertinent to each job assignment.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings/blueprints.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing duties of this job, the employees is regularly required sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 20 pounds. Prolonged viewing of computer monitors and screens. Repetitive motion (use of mouse and keyboard). Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) or protective gear may be required. Occasionally exposed to risk outside diameter (OD) electrical shock. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, humid condition, fumes or airborne particles, flying metal burrs and chips and possible chemical irritants such as water-based coolants, hydraulic oils, degreasing soap and mineral spirit. Occasionally exposed to uncomfortable cold or heat.
