About Job

The Quality Engineer will provide support to the product development team, creating inspection standards, resolving defects, and other potential issues and ensuring that products meet customer specifications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and improvement of the Quality Management System.
  • Determine locators and measuring points
  • Develop and implement Weld Destruct and Ultrasonic Weld Check Strategy
  • Provides technical support, direction, and training to support personnel within the organization.
  • Develop and implement torque sampling strategy
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow daily housekeeping and 5S standards.
  • Previous experience managing safety critical parts.
  • Develop and document product inspection standards
  • Develop and audit the Quality Management Systems such as Control plans, PPAP, FMEA, etc.
  • Ensure gauge calibration, certification, repeatability and reproducibility
  • Possess demonstrable leadership abilities.
  • Verify tolerance/engineering specifications
  • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns.
  • Implement weld control plans and requirements
  • Analyzes data to identify trends in product quality or defects with the goal of mitigating and preventing recurrence and future defects.
  • Establish quality performance metrics and drive issues to true root cause solutions and verify effectiveness of the corrective actions.
  • Participates in functional area plant meetings and related activities representing Quality and to assist in improving the plant's performance goals.
  • Develop dimensional/product/process control plans
  • Define and conduct machine process capability analysis
  • Analyzes data to identify trends in paint quality or defects with the goal of mitigating and preventing recurrence and future defects.
  • Supports product development or operations team by providing analysis and expertise throughout the process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Implement the weld certification strategy
  • Develop and manage welding techniques, materials, and technologies
  • Advanced working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Lean Manufacturing, and how to apply these skills to improve quality, capacity, and reduce cost.
  • Support and lead new line launch verification projects.
  • Ability to communicate and direct supplier activities at the management level.
  • Coordinate with Stamping, Body, Paint, and Assembly to support/attain plant-wide goals.
  • Advanced working knowledge of metal forming (Progressive Stamping, Transfer Stamping, Hot Stamping, Fine Blanking), MIG and resistance welding, and tooling.
  • Reviews design plans, process procedures, test procedures, and quality manuals to understand the scope, requirements, and function of products.

Education and Ideal Experience

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings/technical requirements/specifications.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Welding Engineering, Metallurgy/Metallurgical Engineering
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).
  • 5+ years of experience in the automotive industry with demonstrated evidence of excellence.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers, suppliers, or employees of the organization.

  • Prior background in automotive industries; Experience working with Automotive

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Travel is minimal (5%) for this position.
  • The factory has both office area and shop floor area. The noise level in the office area is generally quiet. Wearing of personal protective equipment’s (PPE) when visiting the shop floor is required.
