Summary The Laboratory Assistant, under general direction, will be responsible for housekeeping of the Quality Control labs and support functions. This includes ordering and stocking of reagents and consumable supplies, cleaning of the labs, organization and archival of paperwork, as well as pick up and delivery of items required for routine laboratory operation.
External US:Essential Functions:
- Glassware cleaning
- Management of chemical and consumable inventory; stocking, restocking and assignment of expiry dates
- Scanning and archival of documents as needed
- Scanning of Documents
- Performance of weekly and monthly BSC cleaning
- Removal of lab trash including chemical/biohazardous wastes
- CO2 incubator daily read out and routine cleaning
- Track down equipment that needs to be turned in for calibration, e.g., timers and pipettes
- Dispose of expired chemicals, reagents, and consumables
- Order, organize, and maintain TM-Fs for compliance
- Housekeeping of labs
- Pick up of orders from warehouse
- Daily check liquid nitrogen tanks and coordinate facility to replenish the empty ones
- Gather pipettes for calibration, drop off and pick up monthly
- Pickup of paperwork (CoAs, and receiving documents of consumables and Raw Materials) from the warehouse
- SDS and CoA management
- Ordering of lab chemicals, reagents, and consumables
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent organization
- Ability to follow safety procedures outlined in the Chemical Hygiene Plan
- Ability to accurately complete required documentation
- Computer proficiency required
- Utilize SDS sheets to properly assess chemical hazards, spill response procedures, and PPE requirements if indicated
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Attendance is mandatory.
- Experience prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs regularly and up to 30 lbs on occasion.
- Use hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment is required.
- Potential for exposure to hazardous chemicals, gases, fumes, odors, mists, and dusts, and other hazardous materials.
- Ability to sit for long periods to work on a computer.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment including safety glasses, lab coat, gloves, specialized clothing including laboratory scrubs (pants and shirt) and appropriate shoes required in most areas associated with this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
Preferred Qualifications:
- Analytical laboratory experience in a GLP/GxP or a comparable federally regulated environment.
