JOB SUMMARY:
The Quality Control Engineer will be responsible for the overall supervision of assigned Building Automation Projects, as it pertains to Quality Control through effective Commissioning methods and procedures. Commissioning is a quality assurance service to ensure our supported Building Management Platforms operate as intended by original design based on project design documents and company standards. It is a systematic, well documented, and collaborative process involving project execution observations, good practice implementation and documentation throughout all phases of the project.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Thorough review and verification of Project Design Intent and Design Criteria to be used for Commissioning and Quality Control.
- Perform site visits, as necessary, to observe component and document component system installations. Accomplish a statistical review of construction focusing on the Owner's design intent and quality requirements.
- Maintain a Master Issues Log and a separate testing record. Provide the project team with written progress reports and test results with recommended actions.
- Review construction progress meeting minutes for revisions/substitutions related to the Owner's design intent. Assist in resolving any discrepancies.
- Generation of Specific Sequence of Operations, Function Test Forms as it pertains to design Building projects.
- Approve systems startup by reviewing start-up reports and selected site observations.
- Schedule Commissioning and Quality Controls process activities and integrate them into the master schedule as prepared and maintained by the project manager.
- Organize, conduct, and document periodic commissioning team meetings to plan, develop the scope, coordinate, schedule activities, and resolve problems.
- Conduct functional performance testing of sub-systems, systems, and interactions between systems, leading to acceptance of the completed Work. Document results of all tests witnessed.
- Coordinate, direct and document commissioning activities in a logical, sequential, and efficient manner using consistent protocols, clear and regular communications, and consultations with all necessary parties.
- Develop a quality control/commissioning plan encompassing each project phase.
- Attend selected construction progress and Pre-installation job-site meetings to obtain information on construction progress.
- Prepare and submit a final Commissioning Process Report to the project team, 3rd party commissioning agent or owner.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Good computer skills, understanding of controls networking.
- Engineering skills required include knowledge of electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
- Ability to interface with customers at a supervisory and management level.
- Working knowledge of at least three HVAC controls systems (preferably Automated Logic Controls, Distech Controls or Equivalent Platforms)
- Must be able to communicate with a variety of individuals as well as follow verbal and written instructions/directions and respond to inquiries as necessary.
- LEED AP Certification desired but not required.
- Minimum eight (8) years of direct automation experience with commissioning, control systems and programing required.
- Must possess valid driver’s license and meet MVR requirements to operate company vehicle.
- Certification as a Commissioning Agent (CxA or BCxA) desired but not required.
- Understanding of Mechanical and Electrical building systems

HOURS:
This is an exempt position. Workdays are scheduled from Monday through Friday. Typically, work hours begin and end between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm as scheduled with the position's supervisor. Occasional overtime may be necessary per business needs.
COMPETITIVE WAGES:
$90,000 to $122,000 Annual Salary. Applicants please note that actual compensation is determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location, among others. The offered wage or salary is only one aspect of an employee's total compensation.
