Position Summary:

QC Tech shall have experience in performing chemical and microbiological testing on raw materials, finished products and stability samples to applicable procedures develop, implement, and improve written Standard Operating Procedures, Testing Instructions, and validation protocols. Specialist for site aseptic practices, including regular mentoring for operators and feedback on aseptic operations. Follow the Thermo Fisher Scientific corporate standards, and best management practice.

Location/Division Specific Information

Location: Miami, Fl Site / Biologicals and Chemicals Division

Hours: Day Shift, Monday - Friday

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for replacing and maintaining sample log. Prepare samples for shipment to external and network labs for testing. Keep inventory of the nitrogen, Argon and CO2 tanks.
• Collect manufacturing support samples: water, environment, and gowning.
• Sample incoming raw material, retain, stability sub-assembly and finished products.
• Perform all job duties within regulatory or statutory requirements.
• Receive upcoming chemical and biological raw material using Sample Manager LIMS system.
• Deliver samples to the QC Lab to be tested.
• Lead calibration due dates to ensure equipment used in the QC Lab complies. Send equipment (e.g., pipettes, Laser III, SAS) for calibration.
• Perform daily temperature readings of chart recorders in the QC Lab areas.
• Lead and handle sampling activities:
  • Collect manufacturing support samples: water, environment, and gowning.
  • Perform sampling for monitoring of critical systems: WFI Water, Pure Steam, UPW Water, Compressed Gases, etc.
  • Sample incoming raw material, retain, stability sub-assembly and finished products.
  • Deliver samples to the QC Lab to be tested.
• Perform sampling for monitoring of critical systems: WFI Water, Pure Steam, UPW Water, Compressed Gases, etc.
• Clean and maintain QC Lab areas and glassware.
• Train fellow QC technician and other areas in aseptic gowning techniques, as well as perform all required tasks in an aseptic environment while wearing sterile gowns.
• Receive and handle hazardous and microbiological waste and disposition of biohazard and hazardous waste.
• Review EM testing results, complete testing reports, perform data entry and maintain environmental trending data.
• Perform simple analysis according to applicable site procedures when required: visual inspection for materials, and components.
• Assist in maintaining inventory of materials and supplies for testing in QC Labs
• Provide support to manufacturing during liquid production.

Knowledge and Experience

• Science Degree with lab experience
• High School/GED with 2years lab experience

• Able to maintain neat, accurate and complete records and logs and use calibration equipment and machine operations.
• Able to focus on continuous, attention-to-detail operations requiring some diversification approach to routine processes.
• Mechanical proficiency is required and used to sample water systems, identification of problems, and correct problems.
