Job Description


If you are a self-motivated, resourceful, and confident individual we may have the perfect position for you. We are looking for someone who is detail orientated, innovative and has a critical eye. This position serves as a Quality Assurance specialist for the Operational Excellence Division, Quality Assurance Unit, quality checking audits for the Tax Compliance Bureau. Responsibilities of this position include developing quality assurance procedures and measures. Division wide specialist, technical advisor and expert for quality assurance review and internal control evaluations. Assists on business process improvement recommendations. Additionally, this person will work with area leadership to further develop consistent work rules for staff.
We are looking for someone with strong communication and relationship building skills, as well as experience analyzing tax returns and other audit projects and processes.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester (36 term) credits in accounting.

Experience

Four years of professional experience equivalent to an Auditor, including two years equivalent to an Auditor P11 or Assistant Auditor General P11, or one year equivalent to an Auditor 12 or Assistant Auditor General 12.

Note: Experience is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor's degree.

Alternate Education and Experience

ALTERNATE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


Possession of a Certificate in Public Accounting (CPA) may be substituted for one year of P11 experience.
OR
Possession of a Certified Management Accountant certification (CMA) may be substituted for six months of P11 experience.
OR
Possession of a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification or a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) certification may be substituted for one year of experience at the P11 level for positions responsible for internal auditing.
OR
Possession of a bachelor's degree with 24 semester credits (36 term) in finance, information systems, or management may be substituted for the education for positions responsible for internal auditing.

This position is eligible to work remotely on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and must work onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.

Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.

The Michigan Department of Treasury participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
Interviews will likely occur virtually using Microsoft Teams. No prior experience with Teams is necessary, as instructions and tips will be provided to all candidates scheduled for an interview.
This position has a FTINPRINT sub-class code. The sub-class code indicates the position has access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and requires passing of a fingerprint-based background check per IRS Publication 1075.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
