Job Description
We are a passionate not-for-profit organization dedicated to tackling global poverty and illiteracy. At our core, we're not just a charity, we're a dynamic movement driving positive change worldwide.
We unite individuals to create a fairer world through service and education. Through our impactful programs, we ignite communities to build economic opportunities, increase civic engagement, and empower individuals to shape their own destinies.
Our Service Learning Programs equip students from under-resourced high schools with the tools they need to transform their communities through service. Globally, we collaborate with people in countries deeply affected by poverty and illiteracy to construct schools, enroll out-of-school children, and support adult learners through our Adult Literacy Program. To date, our U.S. students have contributed over 2.4 million hours of service to their communities, and together, we've built more than 2,300 schools in eight countries, breaking ground on a new school every 36 hours.
If you share our passion for educational justice and believe in the power of service, we invite you to apply and be part of our movement!
Who We're Seeking
Are you an experienced professional who is committed to engaging chronically absent youth and breaking the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and low expectations through service learning? We are searching for someone who can inspire and empower students, particularly those who have struggled to attend school regularly. As an Engagement Specialist, you will help them develop constructive leadership skills, enabling them to grow personally and mobilize their peers to join our movement. Service is the spark that ignites their inner courage, grit, empathy, and passion for making a positive impact!
At the same time, you will have the opportunity to bring people together in solidarity, fostering positive social change. Our Immersion programs create connections between donors and students, encouraging growth in constructive leadership skills and providing opportunities to serve the local community side by side. Similarly, through our Trek program, students can travel to a partner country, live with a host family, and work in unity to construct a school.
You will be driven by achieving student engagement goals, measured through Key Performance Indicators that ensure the quality and reach of our program. Your unwavering passion will be to engage and empower youth through service!
What You'll Do
You will implement our service-learning curriculum. Through a variety of strategies, both digital and in-person, you will develop student leaders by involving them in every step of . Working closely with the school, you will devise strategies to recruit chronically absent students, helping them investigate systemic issues in their communities such as homelessness, poverty, and blight. They will then prepare to address these issues and take action by serving those in need. Reflection will enable them to understand the power of their service and its impact on themselves and the community. Finally, they will have the opportunity to demonstrate what they've learned and advocate for systemic change.
