We are seeking a PVS Representative/Patient Care Advocate to join our Patient Account Services department. This position is Part-Time Core, scheduled 24 hours per week and is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package -or- a 13% pay differential in lieu of benefits. Location Mid Columbia Medical Center is located in The Dalles, Oregon. We work, live, and play in the scenic Columbia River Gorge, Oregon. Located 85 miles east of Portland in the majestic Columbia River Gorge, The Dalles features old-growth forests, rushing waterfalls, and year-round access to outdoor recreation, including downhill and cross-country skiing, world-class water sports, and miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. The area boasts award-winning wineries, and, most importantly, warm, friendly people.


Under little supervision, the Patient Care Advocate is responsible for assuring outpatient/emergency patients receive safe access to medical care while collecting sufficient information to ensure compliance with governmental regulations, laws and hospital policies. The Care Advocate helps to coordinate the admitting process for outpatient/emergency patients, registering, educating, and collecting financial information for use by the billing department. The Care Advocate exhibits competence, integrity and confidentiality with all materials and situations. This position may also fill in for Patient Visitor Services Representatives roles I and II.


Education


  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • A two year college education including satisfactory completion of college level Health Records coursework preferred.


Licensure/Certification


  • National Certification of Healthcare Access Association preferred.


Experience


  • Two year of progressively responsible health experience or equivalent in one of the following areas required Patient Registration; Medical Records/Health Information; Clerical support experience; Insurance Verification/Authorization/Referrals


Skills/Knowledge/Abilities


  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in the English language.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills which promote cooperation and teamwork.
  • Ability to identify alternative means of communication as needed.
  • Ability to communicate in calm, succinct, business-like manner.
  • Keyboarding of 40 wpm and PC based computer skills.
  • Ability to withstand varying job pressures and organize/prioritize related job tasks.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time.


Mid-Columbia Medical Center (MCMC) is seeking a part-time Medical Oncologist to join our outstanding cancer care team at Celilo Cancer Center in The Dalles, Oregon. The Celilo Cancer Center at MCMC provides full-spectrum cancer care, including expertise in medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, breast and reconstructive surgery. We are an American College of Radiology (ACR) Designated Lung Cancer Screening Center. Accredited by the NAPBC (National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers), and the only program in the Gorge recognized by BICOE (Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence-ACR Accreditation). In addition, Celilo Cancer Center offers our patients Reiki, a healing garden, and a free wig/hat program. We have a robust on-site nurse navigation program for breast cancer and oral chemotherapy, and we are proud to have chemotherapy nurses who maintain their specialty oncology nursing certification. The Physician provides clinical services within the scope of practice of his/her specialty and in alignment with the Planetree philosophy and mission; adheres to all evaluation, treatment, procedure and mediation guidelines as directed by clinical and department policies and state or federal law; conducts self-in a professional manner, strictly following confidentiality policies and working cooperatively and supportively with other staff; regularly evaluates staff and provider performance, providing constructive feedback and realistic expectations.


The physician must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient/client served in the clinic, department or appropriate assignment. Based on this; knowledge, he/she provides service according to the identified age specific needs.


Qualifications


  • Dedication to community based, patient-centered care
  • Palliative Care experience highly desirable
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly collaborative with peers, clinical, and support staff
  • MD or DO in good standing
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible Medical Oncologist
  • Knowledge and experience with EPIC highly desirable
