Job Description

This will be a one-year, part-time contract position (~20 hours/week on average), with the possibility of extension.$60 per hour.

The Institute for Curriculum Services (ICS) is a national nonprofit initiative dedicated to improving the quality of K–12 education on Jews, Judaism, and Jewish history in the United States. We do this by working with publishers to ensure that instructional materials are accurate and balanced.


ICS seeks a Publisher Relations Specialist (PRS) to establish relationships with publishers and communicate ICS’s value. The PRS should either have existing relationships within the K–12 publishing space or a proven ability to open doors to warm, trusting relationships between large organizations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain relationships with publishers through regular communications /li>
  • Work closely with Executive Editor, Director, and others to ideate and execute outreach strategy to key decision-makers at publishing companies
  • Manage end-to-end publisher engagement process, including helping to support our system for collecting and organizing information
  • Develop messaging, including written and verbal pitches, to make ICS’s brand and product offerings compelling to potential publisher partners
  • Initiate communications with publishers about ICS’s value and services, and establish collaborative partnerships between publishers and ICS


Qualifications and Requirements

Essential:

  • Support for ICS’s mission of promoting accurate K-12 education about Jews, Judaism, and Jewish history Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Have a deep understanding of the K–12 publishing space, including its current trends and challenges
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Naturally charismatic, confident, enthusiastic, and skilled at building buy-in

Preferred:

  • Background in K–12 social studies publishing strongly preferred
  • Experience in business development, sales, product development, or marketing at a well-known educational/education technology publisher or company that works directly with publishers
