Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District enjoys the quiet rural aspects of small-town America while having proximity to cosmopolitan amenities. The Organization: Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District is home to 18,000+ residents. Formed initially as Williamson County Municipal Utility District No. 2 in 1977, BCMUD provides water and wastewater services, recreational activities, beautiful gardens, parks, and miles of trails through the Brushy Creek community. BCMUD operates four swimming pools, four tennis courts, and a disc golf course throughout the community. At the heart of our District is the Brushy Creek Community Center. Our Community Center features two gyms, two racketball courts, weight room, rock wall, and recreational programming, including various fun activities, educational and fitness classes. Brushy Creek employs approximately 190 seasonal, part-time, and full-time team members. Public Information Specialist: The Public Information Specialist is responsible for developing media strategies promoting a positive public image, organizing interviews, and managing public information during crises. The Public Information Specialist serves as a spokesperson for the District, under the direction of the General Manager and guidance from the Board of Directors, on various sensitive and complex issues. Additionally, this public-facing position engages with residents, members, and the public. Job Duties: Oversees all internal and external communication for the District, ensuring consistent and engaging communication. Receives, investigates, and answers external media and the general public questions . Determines details of how to deliver and manage the flow of information to diverse audiences; identifies key audience, key message, and channel/format, including written word, social media, electronic presentation, newsletters, and live presentation. Assist with various presentations, speeches, correspondence, and other forms of communication. Write communications and publications according to the District's established brand strategies for order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. Develops relationships with key stakeholders to maintain awareness of District issues and priorities and provide communication guidance. Conducts research, reads material, and interviews sources. Proofreads copy for errors. Writes, plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and edits articles for publication in various forms, including electronic publication. Designs, researches, writes, and edits press releases, articles, and newsletters for internal and external use. Manages the Districts image by promoting the Brushy Creek Life. Assists with posting content to the District's website according to the District's established brand strategies for order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. Performs routine audits of the District website to ensure up-to-date and accurate content, meeting branding strategies and link function. Attends District Committee meetings, Board meetings, Town Hall meetings, District events, and other events as directed. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, English or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
