The PUBLIC HEALTH SUPERVISOR FAMILY HEALTH position is an essential team member responsible for supervising, leading, and monitoring one of three teams of family home visiting nurses for Dakota County. Location & Schedule: This hybrid position offers a mix of telework, in-person work at our Northern Service Center in West St. Paul, MN, and fieldwork throughout Dakota County. Work is performed Monday through Friday during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). What You ll Do: As a Public Health Supervisor for Family Health, you will: Provide administrative, clinical, and reflective supervision, and monitor the operations of a Family Health home visiting work unit and associated programs. Work to advance inclusion, diversity, equity, and access in collaboration with colleagues and Dakota County residents. Conduct interviews of applicants and make recommendations for hiring staff into established positions. Ensure the comprehensive orientation of new staff to public health programs and departmental and professional standards, which include individual, community, and system levels of practice. Develop, monitor, and analyze quarterly reports and annual work plans, including work/program output and outcome measures; prepare reports and grant proposals. Develop budget recommendations and analyze, monitor, and control expenses and revenues for your unit. Lead quality assurance and quality improvement efforts as they relate to performance measures. Plan, initiate, and evaluate assigned Family Health programs to meet community needs and best practice standards. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Participate in the development and monitoring of service contracts. Represent the Department and County to the public and internal and external groups and organizations. Participate in emergency preparedness training, exercises, and responses.   • Plan, initiate, and evaluate assigned Maternal Child Health programs to meet community needs and best practice standards.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness trainings, exercises, and responses. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: All the above duties are essential functions. Some travel is required. Lifting requirement of up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Exposure to hazardous materials such as chemicals, blood, and other body fluids may occur. During supervision visits to clients\' homes there may be exposures to: hazardous physical conditions such as environmental conditions within unsanitary homes and property, unsafe neighborhoods, challenging and potentially violent and unpredictable clients, and family members, pets, and animals; atmospheric conditions such as chemicals, odors, dust, gases, poor ventilation, cigarette smoke and extreme temperatures; and other exposures as inadequate lighting, intense noise, and/or workspaces that are restricting of movement.   • Develop recommendations for and implement program policies and procedures, including work and program standards and outreach activities.
  • Provide leadership that supports Public Health accreditation, emphasizing performance management processes and measurements.
  • Supervise and manage personnel, including delegating of responsibilities, providing work direction and guidance, overseeing work products, building a team, and managing staff performance issues.
  • Participate in the development and monitoring of purchase of service contracts.
  • Develop budget recommendations. Analyze, monitor, and control program expenses and revenues. Implement budget modifications as directed.
