Job Description
Overview:


This Public Health Senior Program Manager is a member of an interdisciplinary team of public health consultants assisting Florida in reaching its strategic public health goals. This role will serve as a senior leadership member for HIV prevention, surveillance, care, and treatment statewide. The role would also facilitate community engagement, performance management, strategic planning, communications, and coordination of efforts among internal and external partners. This position requires a considerable exercise of independent judgment, excellent interpersonal skills, good computer skills, and the ability to perform against high standards of excellence.


Essential Functions / Responsibilities:


  • On a quarterly basis, facilitate sharing of project and work plan status updates with appropriate audiences.
  • Assign appropriate resources to ensure all administrative assignments are completed on time.
  • Provide oversight of the HIV Program Activities.
  • Meet with project leads or teams as necessary to ensure decisions are made, or appropriately re-directed as needed.
  • Represent the stakeholder team as requested for regular updates such as at strategic planning meetings. Share appropriate updates or requests as appropriate.
  • On a quarterly basis, ensure each responsible team or individual provides updated performance measures as available, and (as resources are allow) create plans to address deficiencies. This includes activities such as remote and on-site QA reviews, identifying and furnishing educational materials, and preparing evidence-based recommendations.
  • Appropriately assign or redistribute action items.


Qualifications:
  • Working within public health with a preference towards communicable disease.
  • Leading or facilitating meetings of 25 or more participants.
  • At least five years’ experience in the following areas:
  • Leadership roles in project management.
  • Experience in policy/protocol development.
  • Writing narratives, work plans, evaluation plans or other major portions of grant applications.
  • Conducting community engagement activities with a preference for experience with underserved communities.
  • Experience in formalized quality improvement processes.
  • At least seven years’ experience:
  • Managing large budgets with a preference for experience within Florida’s state government.
  • Experience in a senior manager role.
  • Master’s in Public Health, or equivalent combination of related degree area and work experience.
  • Primary investigator or another senior role within a federal grant.
