The School of Public Health division of Epidemiology and Community Health is seeking applications for a part-time (30 hours per week) Public Health Nutrition Program Assistant (1897 - Program/Project Specialist) position. This position will be 75% (0.75FTE 30 hours a week) through 2024 and will drop to 50% (0.50FTE 20 hours a week) in February 2025.

Starting pay is dependent upon the selected candidate’s relevant qualifications, experience and internal equity: $23.27 to $28.34 per hour (36,301.20 to 44,210.40 annually at 0.75 FTE)

Work Arrangements: Hybrid, onsite location is West Bank Office Building (WBOB) 1300 2nd Street S, Minneapolis, West Bank campus. Detailed Description of Responsibilities:

The Public Health Nutrition Program Assistant will work within the Public Health Nutrition graduate program, supporting the training of the next generation of public health nutritionists and current Maternal and Child Health (MCH) nutrition workforce. This position provides administrative support for two related programs within the Public Health Nutrition graduate program: the Coordinated Masters Program (CMP) for students who are training to become Registered Dietitians/Nutritionists (RDNS) and the MCH Nutrition Training program that trains the future and current workforce in MCH/public health nutrition. The Program Assistant will work closely with Amy Pleimling (Coordinated Masters Program Director) and Dr. Jamie Stang (Public Health Nutrition Director and Director of MCH-Nutrition Training Program) to carry out all responsibilities and duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student, preceptor and alumni relations – 20%
  • Outreach and communications – 20%
  • Data management – 40%

Data Management – 40%

  • Assess and document compliance with national accrediting agency requirements.
  • Creating and maintaining databases
  • Entering data in a federal database
  • Assist with development of accreditation site visit report (this work end in Jan/Feb 2025 and constitutes for 0.25 FTE of the 0.75FTE position)
  • Conduct, interpret and report survey results and other data for the purposes of continual quality improvement, evaluation of program activities, and monitoring of program outcomes.

Student, Preceptor and Alumni Relations – 20%

  • Assist with outreach to new and existing supervised practice sites and preceptors.
  • Providing feedback and evaluations to preceptors.
  • Maintaining an updated contact list for preceptors and alumni.
  • Update student folders, assist with preceptor evaluations, and manage program documentation
  • Participate in CMP student selection and orientation.
  • Assist CMP Director in planning, execution and evaluation of supervised practice experiences in dietetics.
  • Managing affiliation agreements with clinical sites.

Outreach and Communications – 20%

  • Occasional assistance with manuscript development may be required.
  • Networking with other dietetic educators and programs.
  • Assistance with development of written documents and educational materials.
  • Assisting with conference and event planning.
  • Maintaining website content for both programs and assisting students with social media to represent the program.
  • Revising program handbook, recruitment materials and other program resources.

The Division of Epidemiology & Community Health focuses on disease and health in various populations. Our faculty and students examine the distribution, cause and prevention of diseases, and how human behavior affects overall health.

The division offers MPH, MS and PhD degrees, as well as dual and joint degrees.

Research: The work of epidemiologists spreads across sectors and areas of study, so our division and faculty are often partnering with other research entities and community organizations on public health research and interventions.
