The Department of Pediatrics has an exciting opportunity for a PT Registered Nurse, Research. The Registered Nurse, Research evaluates, plans, implements, and documents scientific research utilizing human subjects and is responsible for participant recruitment, counseling, and ethical oversight. Moreover, the incumbent will be involved in screening newborns that have been referred by the State of Florida, receives screening results, arranges contact with the family, arranges confirmatory testing, and assures appropriate medical follow-up and education regarding the disease and the genetics of the disease.
- Collects clinical data related to the research studies, records in study databases and transmits the data as required.
- Collects data, prepares, and submits NBS reports to the State of Florida, CMS and NHLBI Comparative Study of Haitian and Miami Cohorts of Haitian American and Haitian Immigrant Children with Sickle Cell Disease monthly.
- Confirms valid signed and dated informed consents for each research participant or their representative prior to beginning the study.
- Collects and handles specimens as required by individual study protocols.
- Reports pertinent clinical findings and results to appropriate managing staff.
- Establishes/maintains contact with health care providers, community agencies and study sponsors.
- Maintain contact with parents or legal guardians of patients. This will include use of questionnaires during in person or phone interviews.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
- Maintains logs and tracks patients enrolled in the project.
- Ensures compliance with institutional and government guidelines, regulations, and requirements.
- Assist the principal investigator and study coordinator in conducting different research activities.
- Obtains and reviews medical history of study participants for clinical studies.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and ensures orders are placed as needed.
- Liaise with the clinical staff of the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Division. This includes participation and scheduling of informative sessions for in-servicing and training purposes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
- Computer skills related to data entry.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
- Research experience and/or certifications.
- Registered Nurse License Required.
- Clinical expertise as a Newborn Screening Registered Nurse.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- BLS Certification Required from American Heart Association only.
