Job Description
Purpose and Scope:
The position of Project STAND Senior Advisor will support the Senior Manager in achieving departmental goals and providing efficient service delivery while mentoring students who are at risk, justice involved, in transition, and enrolled in Virtual School. The position is responsible for the advising operation of student engagement, student leadership, and community resources.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Works collaboratively with other advisors and the community to achieve a system-wide result; Formulates local targets, goals, and activities that are in sync with and support the broader goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Provides quality assurance and oversight of case management.
  • Ensures students are paired with community resources to provide support for post-secondary success.
  • Works collaboratively with other professionals, community resource providers, and community leaders to provide training to parents, teachers, students and other personnel regarding student engagement needs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
  • Responsible for completing all tasks related to implementing Student Engagement programs. (ex: internship site monitoring, summer internship, troubleshooting student engagement programs and activities)
  • Addresses complex issues by suggesting solutions designed to improve work processes.
  • Develops behavior programs (positive behavior intervention, prevention, and support) to equip students to function as productive citizens with the goal of reducing recidivism.
  • Serves as the liaison between the school staff, students, and families to mend challenged relationships between the school and student.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to Project STAND staff in achieving the District’s goal of providing social and emotional learning to at risk students.
  • Implements and coordinates activities and projects for student engagement including academic equity, social-emotional learning, dropout prevention, restorative justice and internship acquisition and placement.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree of Sociology, Criminal Justice, Education, Special Education or related area plus an additional 5 years related experience, or equivalent for a total education/experience of 9 years; must have experience with juvenile involved youth. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)


Degree Equivalency Formula
:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree=6 years plus required years of experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to build high-performing student teams through both the recruitment of students and case management.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships, work collaboratively, and build effective partnerships with students, parents, grant partners and other community stakeholders.
  • Ability to assume tasks and complete long-term projects. Identifies steps, timelines, and staff.
  • Ability to use creativity and other methodologies to promote interest and engagement in identified populations to include students, parents, and communities.
  • Ability to manage daily tasks without losing sight of long-term goals and planning.
  • Leads and engages student teams to explore college and career issues, assess problems, & implements changes to service model for better quality and efficiency for student performance.
  • Assists in developing and administering policies and procedures to lead the department with continuous improvement in quality and efficiency.
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex data and perform analysis.
  • Efficient time management and multi-tasking skills in a demanding environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of principals, concepts, and theories of student engagement, student leadership and community involvement.
  • Ability to develop data-supported solutions, to make decisions using fact-based logic, and to translate results into an easy-to-understand manner and present to a broad audience.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment:
Physical Demands: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating office equipment.

Unavoidable Hazards: The position is exposed to no unusual environmental hazards.
