Job Description

Overview of the role

As Project Manager, you will be part of the Store Development team, responsible for designing, building, and delivering retail experiences; this includes new construction, remodeling, and repairs and maintenance.

The Project Manager will have the opportunity to manage construction-related activities of William-Sonoma, Inc.'s retail stores reporting to the Director of Store Construction. This includes new construction, remodeling, and miscellaneous-related projects for all WSI brands.

Responsibilities

  • Transport materials and equipment
  • Coordinates with Purchasing Manager on the selection and delivery of owner-provided items
  • Conducts regular site visits during the survey, demo, buildout, and punch list phases of various jobs managing construction travel budget to plan
  • Oversight of a portfolio of retail store construction projects, including new, remodels, and capital improvements through managing an external team
  • Reviews design and location criteria with the real estate deal maker and design architects
  • Operate a computer and communicate via telephone
  • Builds relationships with internal partners including Real Estate, Brand Management, Store Operations, Store Design, Visual Merchandising, Corporate Accounting, and Purchasing
  • Evaluate potential projects for cost, schedule, and feasibility before submission to Real Estate Committee
  • Lift, move, and carry objects up to 50 pounds on a limited basis
  • Develop and maintain relationships with extensive external team includes construction project managers, vendors, architects, engineers, and general contractors
  • Reviews value engineering of projects with the design team, procurement, and general contractors
  • Manages landlord negotiation and work letter process, reviews leases and submitted material for adherence to work letter and design timelines and intent
  • Prepares cost summaries, schedules, reports, and construction estimates for Director of Store Construction

Criteria

  • Monitoring and coordinating environmental testing and abatement issues
  • Experience creating and negotiating Landlord Work Letters
  • Establishing construction budgets and schedules
  • Qualifying, selecting, and managing general contractors
  • Experience reviewing and approving technical submittals
  • Requires extensive travel to job sites before, during, and after construction
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in retail store construction and corporate environment
  • Responsible for overseeing a portfolio of high-end brands; from new stores to remodels to refreshes, while executing executive direction
  • Transport materials and equipment and lift, move and carry objects up to 50 pounds on a limited basis
  • Ability to perform work onsite in the (San Francisco, Rocklin, Portland, New York, San Jose) office full-time pending state, local, and Company return-to-work guidance during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Operate a computer and communicate via telephone

Pay Transparency: The expected starting pay range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
