Job Description

Embedded Device Development Project Manager

Device Solutions is looking for a highly motivated Project Manager (PM) to drive the successful execution of multiple simultaneous projects while ensuring optimal profitability for the business and exceeding client expectations to gain and maintain a high level of client satisfaction and repeat business.

The PM maintains ownership of projects from inception to completion, responsible for meeting project milestones and delivering on all aspects defined in the Statement of Work.The PM manages all project execution metrics, including scope, budget, schedule, resource needs, risk assessment and mitigation, change management and project level communications.

The PM owns the relationship with the client, clearly understanding their goals, and striving to exceed expectations while identifying and/or suggesting new business opportunities. To succeed the PM understands the client needs and goals, how the project addresses these, and has the clarity of mind to recognize, document, and describe to the client any changes and challenges so that we can work cooperatively to resolve. Clarity, conciseness, and accuracy of communications is absolutely critical.

The PM reports directly to the Director of Project Management and interfaces directly to executive management for project variances, project performance and business development opportunities.The PM works directly with engineering and engineering management to drive project execution and staffing requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Deliverables: Review and release client deliverables and associated acceptance documents defined in the Statement of Work.
  • Quality: Ensure quality with frequent progress demonstrations and deliverable release reviews.Maintain expert knowledge in project scope defined in the Statement of Work.
  • Scope change: Identify and agree on scope change with client.Work with business development to modify/amend Statement of Work through Change Orders.
  • Business development: Identify business opportunities for existing clients to improve products and/or quality.
  • Efficiency: Efficiently recommend and use project management tools to reduce time required for administrative tasks, as appropriate for each client.
  • Variances: Identify and resolve project variances in a timely manner, including budget, schedule, and scope changes. Create and execute mitigation plans.
  • Budget: Manage project budget against actual progress and spending, manage internal business needs and customer expectations as variances occur.
  • Process: Flow project management processes and identify areas for continuous improvement to increase efficiency and quality.
  • Execution: Work directly with engineering and engineering management to ensure efficiency and quality of projects while maintaining schedule and budget.
  • Client interface: Build a professional relationship with client and manage expectations throughout project.Host kickoff and recurring project status meetings.Provide recurring project reports including status, actions, risks/mitigations, schedule, and meeting minutes.
  • Client satisfaction: Ensure client satisfaction throughout project, identify concerns early and pro-actively address. Seek opportunities to drive additional business while ensuring the client receives excellent value.
  • Resource assignments: Work with engineering management to ensure resource assignments meet the schedule and technical needs of the project.
  • Manage third party partners: Interface with 3rd party partners and vendors to meet project scope, budget, quality, and schedule.
  • Schedule: Develop, maintain, and drive detailed project schedule to meet milestones, managing internal business needs and customer expectations as variances occur.
  • Risks/mitigations: Identify and track/manage project risks, including severity and probability.Agree with executive management, engineering management, and client on proposed mitigations and action plans.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated excellence in communications, project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.
  • Bachelor of Science in relevant field
  • At least five yearsof experience explicitly managing technology projects.
