Job Description

Mulhaupts, one of the most trusted names in security, access control, doors, and door hardware, is seeking an experienced project manager to manage our larger construction projects. Our projects can range in size from 1 opening to over 2000 openings and are a mixture of renovations and completely new buildings. This is a full-time position with advancement opportunities.

Qualified candidates should have excellent communication skills and attention to detail and thrive in a fast-paced work environment. Experience in the commercial construction industry as a project manager is required. Candidates should be capable of reading and understanding architectural plans and specifications and understanding project documentation such as PRs, ASIs, RFIs, etc. Ideal candidates would be well versed in commercial hollow metal doors and frames, wood doors, and hardware. Experience with Allegion, ASSA Abloy, and Hager brands preferred. Door and Hardware Institute certifications preferred but not required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Establish positive relationships with product representatives and manufacturer’s staff.
  • Coordinate material ordering, deliveries, and billing for construction projects based upon the construction schedule, billing dates, and vendor quotes.
  • Conduct site visits to confirm site readiness for installation of materials and to verify existing conditions.
  • The ability to communicate and build relationships with general contractors (both office and site personnel), architects, and building owners to ensure a successful project.
  • Review projects each month to determine billing capacity and then coordinate deliveries and stored material approvals.
  • Price and process change orders.
  • Collaborate with our service department for installation of card access systems, overhead doors, pre-installation of hardware, and turn-key solutions.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Download and print construction documents as well as the ability to modify.pdf documents as needed.
  • Keep contracts up to date with contract modifications and supporting documentation.
  • Enter the details for smaller projects into our detailing and procurement software.
  • Assist in the launch of a new industry-related software system and subsequent company-wide training.
  • Field verify and measure existing frames that will be receiving new hardware and doors.
  • Manage vendor quotes and project costing to ensure profitable outcomes.
  • Manage projects that we successfully win and release materials for procurement in accordance with construction schedules and lead times.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date task list for all work.
  • Inspect existing doors and hardware on site to ensure new products integrate with existing products.
  • Projects may consist of doors, frames, and hardware packages as well as card access system integration, overhead doors, and installation.

Requirements:

  • Must pass a background check and drug screen.
  • The ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Minimum of two years of experience project managing construction projects.
  • Minimum of two years experience in estimating change order requests and small projects.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in commercial construction
  • Must be willing to work at Lafayette, IN office.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe.
  • Valid current driver’s license and clean driving record. Must be able to travel independently to job sites when required.
