Job Description

Position: Volunteer Project Manager

Location: Hampton Roads, Virginia

Are you passionate about supporting the transgender community and making a positive impact on trans individuals' lives? Join us at The Calos Coalition, a new & fledgling non-profit organization dedicated to elevating trans joy through direct aid initiatives. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Volunteer Project Manager to contribute their expertise and help us advance our mission of providing support, resources, and assistance to the trans community.

About The Calos Coalition:

The Calos Coalition is committed to fostering trans joy and empowerment. We strive to create an inclusive environment that celebrates the diversity and resilience of the transgender community. Our focus is on running programs through Events (fun events, support groups, workshops), Auctions and Drawings (online and at Events), as well as forging partnerships with creators and business of all kind to fundraise for our Trans Wish List Program and HRT Storehouse Projects. The Trans Wish List Program aims to fulfill essential needs and aspirations of trans individuals, while the HRT Storehouse Project provides low-cost or no-cost hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to those in need.

Role and Responsibilities:

As a Volunteer Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in advising, coordinating and overseeing various projects and initiatives within our organization. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reporting monthly to Board Meetings on project progress, key metrics, and future initiatives.
  • Assisting in the creation and implementation of two separate but key direct aid projects that address the unique needs of the transgender community (our Trans Wish List Program and HRT Storehouse Project).
  • Managing and advising on Coalition Events, Auctions, and Drawings to ensure their successful execution and fundraising outcomes.
  • Collaborating with our dedicated team of volunteers, including Coalition Officers, Staff, Social Media/Marketing Manager, and Newsletter Staff, to fulfill day-to-day operations and enhance our organizational impact.
  • Track and assist Donation Processing as related to key Projects.
  • Coordinating and following up with partners and sponsors to establish fruitful partnerships

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with fundraising techniques and experience in partnership development is a plus.
  • A deep understanding of the challenges and experiences faced by the transgender community, along with a genuine commitment to creating positive change.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, volunteers, and partners.
  • Previous experience in the non-profit sector, particularly with start-up organizations, is highly desirable.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to plan, execute, and monitor projects from initiation to completion.

Benefits and Recognition:

By joining The Calos Coalition as a Volunteer Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of trans individuals and contribute to a growing non-profit organization. You will gain valuable project management experience, expand your network within the non-profit sector, and have the satisfaction of knowing you are supporting an inclusive and empowering community.

Please note that this is a volunteer position, but we recognize the value of contributions and hope to be able to offer more as we grow. We may be able to offer tax receipts for the donated time at fair market value, subject to Board and Legal Counsel approval and within the limits of our bylaws & 501(c)3 standards. Additionally, there may be potential opportunities for paid positions in the future, aligned with our organizational bylaws.

If you are enthusiastic about working with a start-up non-profit, driving meaningful change, and empowering the transgender community, we invite you to join our team as a Volunteer Project Manager.
