Job Description
Position Overview
Food is Medicine is a rapidly growing priority within The Rockefeller Foundation’s Good Food Strategy . The $105-million Good Food Strategy, which is The Rockefeller Foundation’s largest-ever investment in food and nutrition, aims to reach underserved people around the globe over three years with solutions that benefit human health, protect the planet, and create more equitable opportunities globally.
Our Food is Medicine work, originally launched in 2019, focuses on reducing diet-related diseases, improving health equity, and mitigating rising healthcare costs by integrating innovative food and nutrition benefits into healthcare delivery in the United States. To unlock the potential of Food is Medicine, The Rockefeller Foundation is investing in three key areas: (1) continuing to build high-quality evidence through research; (2) promoting policies that support the integration of nutrition incentives into health care; and (3) improving infrastructure needed to remove bottlenecks and deliver programs to those most in need . In the last year, the Foundation has invested an additional $4.6M in grants in this space . Alongside the White House Conference for Hunger, Health, and Nutrition, we also announced our plan to mobilize $250 million to build a national Food is Medicine Research Initiative with partners in the health, food, and non-profit sectors.
Given the immense momentum and opportunity in this space, The Rockefeller Foundation is now seeking a Project Manager, Food is Medicine, to rapidly accelerate our efforts to advance Food is Medicine programs nationally. The Project Manager, reporting to the Vice President, Food (U.S.), will be a key member of the Food team, responsible for supporting the program and project management across the Food is Medicine program. This position will work closely with other colleagues at the Foundation and a range of external partners to ensure that consistent, efficient processes and plans are in place to allow us to reach ambitious impact goals.
Pay Range: $136,483- $172,317. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.
Work Schedule: This is a 3-year fixed term, remote position with the expectation to come into the New York City office for meetings and events as needed.

  • Work with the Vice President, broader Food team, and Communications, Policy, and Advocacy team to set time-bound objectives to advance the work across multiple work streams.
Support engagement of key stakeholders
  • Research new developments and key learning questions, using high-quality analyses; synthesize findings clearly and concisely.
  • Serve as a trusted internal and external ambassador of The Rockefeller Foundation.
  • Support building and managing new and existing partnerships with a coalition of grantees and partners with shared goals in the Food is Medicine space.
  • Support the development of high-impact materials, such as slide decks for both internal and external stakeholder engagement.
  • Plan and facilitate consultations with experts, grantees, policymakers, and other key opinion leaders.

  • Experience in nutrition, public health, health policy, or health care in the U.S., preferred.
  • Experience with philanthropy and grant-making, particularly equitable and participatory grant- making approaches, preferred.

  • Agile, creative problem solver and team player with a can-do attitude.
  • Deep understanding of the program and project management tools and reporting.
  • Ability to build and maintain deep external relationships and partnerships and serve as a trusted advisor to a diverse set of partners.
