Job Description
Job Responsibilities


York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State.


The Project Assistant Performs The Following Functions


  • Establishes and maintains all participant and program files and records. Creates and updates information and documentation in participant files; maintains information using computer database and spreadsheet software for reporting purposes; audits participants files to ensure grades and comments are included; and generates statistical reports. Assists in compiling and collecting statistical data regarding the evaluation of program effectiveness for reporting to stakeholders (the department, the college, and the US Department of Education);
  • Provides effective administrative support and customer service for SSS Departments. Executes administrative and clerical duties as necessitated by the day-to-day operations of the project, which includes scheduling appointments, preparing mailings, letters, e-mails and flyers. Records and prepares minutes for all staff meetings.
  • Assists Student Support Services staff in providing support services to project participants. Provide information concerning program services, policies and participant activities for the project; and make appropriate referrals to other on-campus services or off-campus human services agencies; and maintain a calendar of activities, meetings and various events for the project staff; and assist with coordination of project activities and events
  • Assist with other duties as needed in achieving the project's performance objectives.
  • Initiates and maintains appropriate bookkeeping procedures to assist the Project Director in monitoring the project’s budgets efficiently. Prepares, submits, and maintains records for requisitions and/or check requests for the purchase of equipment, office supplies and educational materials; and assists in making travel arrangements for program staff and students;


Minimum And Additional Requirements


A high school diploma and at least two years of responsible clerical or paraprofessional work experience in the compilation of data, statistical analysis, bookkeeping, or a related field.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Knowledge of office management procedures and practices, computer and word processing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) and exercise sound judgment in resolving problems and making decisions.
  • Knowledge of the policies and procedures of programs offered in Student Services.
  • Ability to maintain records within complex database software (Blumen).
  • Provide exceptional customer service to project participants, other students, and college personnel.
