Location: Washington, DC

Profile:

· The ideal profile is someone "outgoing", with experience with event planning, strong written skills, organized, and interest and in the academic environment.

· This role requires a high degree of communications with faculty, staff, students/interns and extensive expense reimbursement processing so must be versed in excel and accounting basics.

· The role offers a variety of work in HR coordination, meeting planning (scheduling, prep, attending and taking minutes), event planning, customer service (directing people - solving problems), and social media/website updates. A well-rounded workload- summer and winter "slow" time.

· Tech Skills: Word, Excel, Powerpoint (would love if have Workday experience, but not required), WordPress preferred.



Job Overview

· Administrative management of all aspects of the Global Health Department.

· The Program Coordinator is the focal point for communications among the faculty, students, school administration, advisory committees and alumni, and therefore has the broadest knowledge of all aspects of the programs and operations of the department.

· With excellent administration, organization, and communication skills, the Coordinator provides the base for successful academic and research operations.

Work Interactions

· The Coordinator reports to the Chair of the Global Health Department and collaborates with the administrative leadership of the School of Health (SOH).

· Coordinates closely with the Chairs and faculty of the SOH departments. Works independently and may supervise one staff member and student assistants.

Work Mode Designation

· This position has been designated as On-Campus.

Requirements and Qualifications

· The minimum academic level required to perform the work in this position is a B.A., in Humanity studies, Communication, Behavioral or Health Sciences, Political Science, International Relations.

· Practical Experience: 2-4 years working in global health, communication, educational program, or other relevant.

· Must be comfortable with computers and school computer systems, knowledgeable about common social media platforms, able to manage spreadsheets and basic accounting databases.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work cooperatively and effectively with faculty, staff and students, taking meeting notes, write meeting summaries, organize/coordinate school related events, manage resources, strong administrative and time management skills, and the ability to work independently.


Function (Percentage - 50%; E/NE Essential)

· Program management and Administration

§ Work closely with Chair and SOH senior leadership to ensure that the Global Health programs’ needs are processed within the SOH financial system. Assist in filing the pre- and post- budget authorizations, and reimbursement of program budgets, sponsored research budgets and other initiatives.

§ Facilitate department working meetings with funding agencies, manage student surveys, conduct web and library research, and editing department documents.

§ Ensure high levels of student satisfaction through daily interaction and written and verbal feedback.

§ Work with faculty and students to create logical systems and efficient processes to maximize efficiency and student satisfaction.

§ Works closely with faculty members to lead, organize, and grow the Global Health programs. Serves as the principle contact for faculty, staff, students, local healthcare leaders, and community partners on issues related to program growth and development.

§ Develop and maintain strong ties to alumni and ensure participation in school activities and functions.

§ Ensure that alumni are aware of advances in the client program and are active participants in our growth.

§ Organize routine and special department events, facilitate event logistics, support guest speakers and other guests.

§ Manage department electronic documents and data storage, and file dissemination.

§ Maintain department website.

· Faculty Management (40%): Lead efforts to improve curriculum and daily teaching efficiency in the programs.

· Develop new materials and enhance the use of technology in the classroom.

· Work closely with faculty to develop, organize and implement departmental activities.

· Assist with internship and study abroad administrative duties for graduate and undergraduate students.

· Work closely with the global Health faculty on various projects and research related to their areas of interest.

· Determine creative ways to incorporate local leaders into the client program as guest lecturers, mentors, and adjunct faculty.

· Manage the adjunct faculty to meet their needs and the needs of the students

· (10%) Other duties as assigned by the global Health Department Chair.

· Light: Frequently required to move up to 10lbs weight and walk or stand with operation of controls.

· Occasionally tasked with moving items weighing up to 20lbs.
