ABOUT EQUAL JUSTICE WORKS
Equal Justice Works is the nation’s largest facilitator of opportunities in public interest law. We achieve this through creating Fellowship programs for lawyers and community organizers, hosting the largest national public interest law career fair, advocating for Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and supporting law students pursuing public interest law careers.
We bring together an extensive community of law schools, law students, lawyers, community organizers, legal services organizations, and supporters to promote a lifelong commitment to public service and equal justice. Following their Fellowships, more than 85% of our Fellows remain in public service positions, continuing to pursue equal justice for under-resourced communities across the country.
Position Overview
The program coordinator, Fellowships Unit, contributes to the mission and established goals of Equal Justice Works by supporting effective relationship stewardship and engagement with our Fellows and Alumni and ensuring efficient unit business administration. This position is essential to the daily operations of the Fellowships Unit, including Fellow and Alumni outreach communications; virtual and in person trainings, events, and meetings; database and file management; and data integrity, collection, and reporting. While under the supervision of the director of alumni relations, the position will work closely with colleagues within Unit and across the organization.
Responsibilities
Communications Coordination
  • Supports the curation and dissemination of Fellow and Alumni newsletters and general communications as the central production coordinator, including content population, calendaring, marketing lists and analytics reporting.
  • Maintains up to date general and segmented lists for Fellows, Alumni, and Host Organizations in Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
  • Provides outreach support via email or phone for relationship stewardship and successful project execution, such as invitation follow ups.
  • Collaborates with Director and Marketing and Communications team to keep Fellow and alumni website content current, and coordinate alumni-specific content including guest blogposts.
  • Posts content and promotes Fellow and Alumni engagement through the Alumni LinkedIn Group.
  • Proofreads and edits draft communications pieces.
  • Manages external email solicitations, invitations, nominations, and RSVP tracking for Fellow and Alumni engagement, including annual Leadership Development Trainings.
Administrative Duties
  • Monitors general inboxes.
  • Maintains organized and accessible files in Sharepoint.
  • Schedules and manages unit/team meeting calendars, helps with meeting set up.
  • Manages Unit subscriptions and conference registrations.
  • Supports with program administrative onboarding of new staff joining the unit.
  • Provides administrative back-up as needed to team members during leave or at peak periods.
  • Participates in working groups for grants management and CRM.
Project Support
  • Participates in Unit-wide activities and initiatives, and acts as a liaison and Assists with all pre, onsite, and post alumni/Fellow engagement virtual and in-person event logistics, including Leadership Development Training
  • Assists Director of Alumni Relations in supporting the Alumni Advisory Council. Helps schedule meetings, circulate agendas and supporting documents, coordinate annual membership nomination processes, and alumni recognition initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or by Unit Vice President.
  • Supports the coordination of Alumni review panels for alumni engagement nomination processes.
  • Program/Unit representative for internal committees as assigned.
  • Identifies, cultivates, and stewards alumni and volunteers.

Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Undergraduate degree and one or more years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to balance competing priorities, complex situations and tight deadlines

  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Suite (specifically Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Teams) for word-processing, presentation software, spreadsheets calendaring, email, and project management
  • Demonstrates keen sense of customer service and is a team player who is also comfortable as a self-starter
  • Experience in higher education, membership association, or an industry that requires event planning, or marketing and constituent engagement preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and displays sensitivity to personal information
  • Experience with CRM databases (preferably Microsoft Dynamics), digital communication tools, and/or event management preferred
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and critical thinking skills
  • Familiarity with digital marketing tools such as ClickDimensions, Eventbrite
  • Significant competence in database management
  • Demonstrates outstanding people skills to develop and foster communication and teamwork with a diverse audience in person and virtually
LOCATION
Washington DC
Daily activities are conducted in a typical office environment. EJW currently adheres to a hybrid work model whereby employees who live within a reasonable commuting area are required to be in person in-office two times per week.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The salary range for the Program Coordinator, Fellowships position is $50,000 - $55,000, based on experience. Health and well-being are a top priority at Equal Justice Works. They offer a comprehensive suite of benefits designed to support your total health and wellbeing, including 14 days of annual vacation leave; additional paid holiday leave the week between Christmas and the New Year; 16 weeks of paid parental leave for those w/EJW 6 months or more; excellent medical and dental insurance with Equal Justice Works paying 100% for employee premiums and 75% for dependent premiums; and a $1000 professional development stipend per year.
