What We Want


The School of Pharmacy is looking for a Program Coordinator I to serve as a member of the Office of Student Affairs team. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. What You Need To Know


Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience:


  • 2 Years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Education and Experience:


  • Five years’ experience in Health Science Center or higher education setting
  • Master’s Degree


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Verbal and written communication skills.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Skilled in working with a diverse population of students.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Student Information Systems (e.g., Banner), and accounting systems (e.g., FAMIS/Canopy).
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities.
  • Ability to develop and deliver recruitment and promotional presentations.


Responsibilities:


Student Services:


  • Collaborate and participate in all OSA hosted student events such as Pre-Orientation, Orientation, OSA Roundtables, OSA Social Events, Admission Days and Commencement.
  • Supervise, monitor student organization officers to ensure the college’s guidelines are followed and executed properly. This role will provide the required annual student activity trainings, manage student organization sponsored event forms, assess and manage risk mitigation review and forms to follow TAMU and HSC rules and policies and track student organization events.
  • Provide mentoring to pharmacy students to enhance success. Including: discuss study habits, importance of class attendance, and importance of completing assignments; inform students of tutoring assistance, supplemental instructions, peer mentoring and refer to the appropriate offices when necessary.
  • Serve as the College Liaison on the CS campus between students and TAMU business operation offices such as; TAMU Business Services Office, Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, International Student Services, Registrar’s Office, Graduate Admissions, etc. Refer students to the appropriate department when necessary and may assists in identifying funding opportunities. Provide general academic advising for all pre-pharmacy and admitted students. Including: provide college admission requirements and other information as requested (e.g., insurance, tuition payment, registration assistance); review, interpret, and relate information found in the College of Pharmacy Student Handbook; review, interpret, and relate information to students regarding pre-pharmacy requirements and course equivalents; refer students to appropriate staff or departments as necessary.
  • Coordinate and participate in recruiting activities in, and in the vicinity of, College Station and as assigned. This includes one on one meetings with prospective students and campus tours. Work with the OSA Director of Admissions to collaborate on all recruitment efforts.
  • Coordinate student services with TAMU (e.g., financial aid, health and wellness, business services, records and registration) and assist with coordination of College of Pharmacy events such as: pre- and general orientation, White Coat Ceremony and Commencement.
  • Provide general advising to prospective and admitted students, including: admission requirements (e.g., review, interpret, and relate information to prospective students regarding pre-pharmacy requirements and course equivalents), student services (e.g., Scholarships & Financial Aid), information about Doctor of Pharmacy program (e.g., insurance, tuition payment deadlines, registration process), information in the College of Pharmacy Student Handbook and TAMU student rules, and refer students to appropriate staff or departments as necessary.
  • Coordinate and participate in recruiting activities in, and in the vicinity of, College Station and as assigned.
  • Provide counseling to pharmacy students located on the College Station campus to enhance success and provide support for student organizations. Including: discuss study habits, importance of class attendance, and importance of completing assignments; inform students of tutoring assistance; manage student organization sponsored events forms; track student organization events; refer students to the appropriate department ( e.g., Office of Experiential Education) or office ( e.g., Student Success) when necessary.
  • Provide mentoring to pharmacy students to enhance success. Including: discuss study habits, importance of class attendance, and importance of completing assignments; inform students of tutoring assistance, supplemental instructions, peer mentoring and refer to the appropriate offices when necessary.


Administrative:


  • Works with the Assistant Dean to plan, organize, direct, and manage various programs within the Office of Student Affairs specifically the College’s annual Commencement. All duties aligned with the planning of the event that includes but is not limited to budgetary reports and operations, cost allocations and purchases, reserving facilities, hosting and coordinating pre and after ceremony events, working with students on commencement and regalia orders, etc.
  • Supervise and train program staff, including student workers to ensure required training is up-to- date
  • Develop, coordinate, participates in planning and execution of student services programs outside of Commencement; assist with purchasing for student services programs; contribute to budget operations as it relates to student services purchases and operations.
