Job Description

Position Overview
The Production Planning Supervisor is responsible for managing the production scheduling, material planning, and inventory control teams for the RTU Business at the local plant. The position is responsible to review production schedules for demand adherence, capacity management, material requirements planning and procurement execution. Maintains plant schedule communication with plant management, sales, operation and key customers. Manages all planning reports and Key Performance tracking. The Production Planning Supervisor is involved with quality improvement and cost reduction initiatives to improve plant performance. The position maintains a focus on order management, production efficiency, inventory control and planning team development to ensure the RTU Business Unit can achieve its specific goals and objectives.
Essential Functions of the position: Other duties may be assigned.
  • Develop inventory strategies and manage maintenance of planning parameters to meet the business goals.
  • Manage cycle count and inventory discrepancies for proper material management.
  • Use MRP system to ensure proper material management.
  • Actively participates in the SIOP Supply meetings.  Report out on current capacity and inventory management strategies.
  • Manage ERP system parameters and settings to maintain alignment with the Business Unit, Operations and Supply Chain goals.
  • Scheduling Review of RTU Business products for multiple work centers.
  • Maintain accurate capacity planning settings within SAP to ensure accurate capacity and date managed schedules.
  • Manage new customer demand and demand shifts through the product lifecycle.
  • Consult with production personnel to determine production capacity and develop production manning strategies.
  • Manage the Production Scheduling, Material Planning and Inventory Cycle Count Teams
  • Identify opportunities to improve supply chain efficency relative to stability, cost, service, and quality.
  • Material Management for direct and indirect materials.
  • Work with customer service to communicate accurate service level expectations.
  • Use leadership, analytical skills and business knowledge to lead the Pregis production planning and inventory control intiatives.
  • Manage interplant materials from other Pregis facilities.
  • Responsible for understanding, complying, and enforcing applicable quality, environmental and safety policies. 
  • Analyze historical product demand patterns, trends, and other business information to ensure proper material planning.
  • Partnering with MDM and MD Governance teams, manage the creation and maintenance of routings and BOM data to ensure proper planning.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Proficent in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • SAP Material/Produciton Planning experience prefered
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business or equivilant
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 3-5 Years Leadership/Management experience
  • Ability to travel to other production facilities as needed.
  • APICS or other Supply Chain Certification is a plus
  • Minimum 3 years Production Scheduling/Material Planning/Inventory Control experience for manufacturing environment
  • MRP System experience and knowledge required
