NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs


If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range

$56,100 - $125,400
  • Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate¿s experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

What Your Job Will Be Like


The W80-4 Interconnects Department is seeking a highly motivated Production Planning Control Specialist to join our dynamic team, which focuses on the design, development and production of complex interconnects utilized in Nuclear Deterrence (ND) programs. The selected candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work in a dynamic teaming environment and have primary responsibility for coordinating and scheduling hardware production, delivery and acceptance.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Team with technical staff, project leads and managers to assess demand requirements and make recommendations to key decision makers regarding demand, inventory and/or capacity needs.
  • Integrate and manage special builds (new product development builds, technical experimental builds, and problem-solving builds) partnering with the appropriate technical teams to ensure hardware production is effectively planned and executed throughout the product realization process.
  • Provide interface and coordination function between product realization teams (PRTs), purchasing and vendors to ensure all are aligned to meet varying customer requirements and schedules.
  • Interpret engineering change authorization documents and drawings to understand the impact on supply chain and production planning processes.
  • Assesses risks and opportunities and may recommend strategies to capitalize on opportunities and mitigate programmatic risks.
  • Define and assess risks and opportunities; develop strategies (level loading, safety stock, inventory buffers, etc.) for management in order to mitigate overall programmatic risks. Utilize independent judgment to determine the best course of action to accomplish short-term and long-term objectives and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Analyze Material Requirements Schedules (MRS) to ensure hardware production is scheduled and executed to meet customer requirements.
  • Interfaces with other SNL departments/programs to negotiate material and schedule requirements on behalf of both production and development.
  • Develop and deliver periodic reports to assist in decision making of production, inventory and capacity planning.
  • Optimize operational resources; integrate and manage special builds to ensure deadlines are met and negotiate capacity allocation.
  • Research alternative material/components required to meet hardware requirements.
  • Plan and direct work across the supply chain including but not limited to materials requirements planning, shop floor prioritization and scheduling, inventory control, and make-buy decisions.

Qualifications We Require

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US DOE Q-level security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or other relevant field; or equivalent experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • Experience with inventory management, procurement, scheduling and interfacing with vendors.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Knowledge of financial tools and systems to perform financial analysis and manage and monitor costs and budgets.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Ability to integrate with technical project teams and partner effectively.

About Our Team


The Interconnects Department designs, develops tests and qualifies cable assemblies (high voltage, RF, flat-flex, multi-wire, and fiber optic), junction boxes and adaptor assemblies. The department further designs, fabricates, and deploys equipment and testers for our products as such systems are not available through private industries. Our in-house designed equipment is in use at Sandia, the National Security Campus (NSC), as well as selected vendor sites for the development and qualification of War Reserve and other high-reliability components.We use the Realize Product Subsystem (RPSS) to realize Mark Quality product that covers the complete product realization cycle of requirements, design, development, specification, qualification, procurement, delivery and stockpile support through our partners at the NSC.We employ defect-prevention strategies to gain an understanding of design margin during the development cycle. The department's capabilities include the ability to address multiple challenging requirements related to meeting high reliability numbers over extremely long life, radiation tolerance, nuclear safety requirements, and size & weight restrictions.

Security Clearance
