Position Summary

Since the doors opened in 1972, this factory has grown dramatically into a sustainable state-of-the-art facility. In 2013, we completed our largest solar project yet by installing a 450-kilowatt photovoltaic system of nearly 1,900 panels. The amount of energy produced annually by this solar array could power nearly 52 average-sized homes, or approximately 5,000 lights bulbs for an entire year. With sustainability and safety always top of mind, our Atlanta factory proudly and passionately produces 460,000 tons a year of our dry pet food brands, including Alpo®, Beneful®, Cat Chow®, Dog Chow®, Fit & Trim®, Friskies®, Nestlé Purina ONE® and Pro Plan®. This plant location is just along the southern crescent of Metro Atlanta – an area that nearly 5 million residents and over 340 of our associates can call home. Atlanta is considered the major commercial and financial center of the Southeast and, if this beautiful city were a country, it would be the 28th largest economy in the world.
As a Product Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for testing samples of our finished products and communicating those test results to the appropriate departments. You will regularly interact with Production, Maintenance, and Product Safety. Quality and safety are the promises we make on every bag, container, tub, and can – and we continue to deliver on that promise.

  • Comply with all regulatory statutes to include MSDS, applicator certification, documentation logs, and labels.
  • Perform pheromone monitoring, installation, investigation and appropriate actions to include maintaining accurate records.
  • Assist Product Safety Team Leader with general administration duties.
  • Sample and test incoming ingredients that include, but are not limited to physical testing, and EB testing, environmental sampling, and testing rail cars, trucks, bins, sacks, and totes.
  • Monitor and maintain mechanical traps and rodent bait stations.
  • Obtain, maintain and update pesticide applicator certification.
  • Audit sanitation through the factory
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a safe and sanitary fashion
  • Comply with all safety regulations involving conduct of the job to include respiratory protection, protective clothing, and medical testing.
  • Conduct investigation for source of any contaminant in the plant, ingredients, product and/or process.
  • Reorder and inventory stock of sanitation and pest control materials.
  • Conduct Monthly GMP inspection.
  • Conduct weed control of surrounding property.
