Job Description

Observable helps everyone make sense of the world with data.

At Observable, we’re helping everyone make sense of the world with data. Built for and powered by a community of more than 700,000 data visualization experts and practitioners, Observable is the collaborative data canvas that brings teams together to make informed decisions faster. (Think “Figma for data.”)

We’re backed by folks at Sequoia Capital, Acrew Capital, and Menlo Ventures.

Companies like Stitch Fix are using Observable to turn data into decisions. And, in January, we raised a $36M Series B round of funding 🙌

Our marketing team is hiring a Product Marketing Manager to connect the dots across GTM teams and optimize the customer journey.

Skills You Have

  • Strong organizational and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work strategically as a proactive self-starter with independent decision making, as well as ensuring operational delivery and having a hands-on approach.
  • Strong storyteller with exceptional writing and verbal communication skills.
  • 5 to 7+ years of relevant experience in Product Marketing.
  • Experience marketing B2B and/or B2C2B SaaS products to developers and/or data practitioners.
  • Audience empathy, product intuition, and a bias toward action over perfection.
  • Content Marketing, and/or Journalism.
  • Portfolio of previous work required.
  • 2+ years experience working in a Tech Startup company.
  • The presence, confidence and energy required to engage and influence many different types of individuals within an organization.
  • Video production skills.
  • Experience with a self-serve, product-led growth (PLG) motion.
  • Experience developing and driving product awareness.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with Growth Marketing to ensure all content is optimized for SEO.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our core audience, including their day-to-day workflows, tool stacks, pain points, and frustrations.
  • Seek to raise the bar on everything you do.
  • Support product content strategy and creation for product launches and lifecycle marketing initiatives.
  • Approach problem solving creatively.
  • Write and produce SEO content as needed.
  • Be bold and creative in writing and producing memorable product stories in a variety of formats, such as videos, reels, slideshows, emails and blog articles.
  • Review and provide feedback on customer-facing, non-editorial deliverables, such as paid media, and social as needed.
  • Collaborate with other members of the marketing team to coordinate distribution efforts.
  • Identify and remarket product features and capabilities that complement our audience’s existing workflows and tooling.
  • Develop and manage a product content calendar.
  • Set and adhere to a consistent publishing schedule with clear deadlines.
  • Track, analyze and report progress against marketing goals and ROI.
  • Provide storytelling and copywriting support for website and landing pages.

What You Will Get

  • A fast-paced yet thoughtful and collaborative environment.
  • Learning and development allowance
  • Competitive compensation and opportunity for advancement
  • Home office stipend
  • Remote first, all day every day
  • Generous PTO

Join Our Team!

We’re visualization enthusiasts. We’re chart connoisseurs. We’re open source developers. We’re map geeks, spreadsheet lovers, and color palette fiends. We love helping people understand the world better and we want you to join us in helping the world make sense of data.

We want to share our love of software by making programming easier to learn, by making data easier to explore and analyze, by making visualizations easier to sketch, and by helping people help each other.

Observable is built on open source , including React, Node.js , and PostgreSQL, as well as a number of our own open source libraries . We care deeply about user-centered design, from programming language and syntax design, to API construction, to the graphical user interface, to the final pass of visual polish.

We are looking for people who are compassionate advocates for data practitioners and have the audacity to tackle some of development’s greatest challenges. We are hiring for multiple positions.

Thank you for your interest! 🙏 We can’t wait to hear from you.
