The experience in healthcare can be complicated and hard to navigate, making what can already be a challenging time that much harder for a consumer. This role is responsible for using product management best practices to set the vision for and execute a simplified consumer experience. An experience that delivers on the United Health Group mission, of helping members live healthier lives and making the health system work better for everyone.
As a Product Manager, Experience you will help build customer experiences that simplify how consumers learn about and use their healthcare benefits. You will work with the VP/Directors of Product across the consumer journey (Find and Price Care, Onboarding, Understanding Benefits, Pay For Care) to understand and contribute to the vision of the work. This role will focus on partnering with a cross-functional experience team, including technology, experience design, and insights, along with business experts and stakeholders to develop high-value, modern, intuitive, and cross-channel experiences that speak consumers’ language and empower consumers to use their plan effectively. The Product Manager will be expected to use product and agile methodologies to transform healthcare experiences at speed and scale which ultimately, drive clear benefits for healthy consumer outcomes, better plan utilization, and increase financial savings, retention, and satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Results & Metrics:
  • Monitor technical performance throughout product development and partner with Engineering to ensure acceptance criteria is met
  • Delivery:
  • Tracks and monitors Objectives and Key Results. Ensure have correct data and tools for the experience and related sub-processes; use data to improve experiences
  • Planning:
  • Experience Design:
  • Partner with insights teams/designers to collect voice of the customer feedback throughout the development process and perform data-driven prioritization of features that meet business needs. Work with engineering and QA to align on feature sizing and delivery planning
  • Perform validation of features against customer and business goals and acceptance criteria
  • Based on the strategy and the designed experience, help prioritize backlog and develop clear, actionable features to describe the work to be done. Share features with key stakeholders to get buy-in and alignment and partner with technology and other groups to turn features over for development and deployment. Define the acceptance criteria of a product feature. Generate or contribute to all product, project and platform artifacts for product development and management (business cases, features, user stories, flow documents) Leverage Agile product management processes, and develop detailed presentations, requirements, project plans and use cases accounting for all scenarios of an experience
Competencies
  • Own the creation of features, requirements, and user stories. Participate in Agile Scrum process to ensure business vision is being accurately implemented and meet market expectations
  • Drive on-going solicitation of consumer feedback throughout the development process to ensure delivering capabilities and touchpoints that meet and exceed consumer needs
  • Guide a roadmap through the capability life cycle of strategy, OKR/KPI alignment, definition, and delivery
  • Use data to support hypotheses and conclusions, for developing business cases and roadmap priorities, and to inform the success of your digital capabilities
  • Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task, manage multiple priorities, and prioritize appropriately to meet strict deadlines is essential
  • Oversee the development of your set of product features and determine which investments are most impactful to the business and why
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and implement plans to solve problems that arise
  • Comfortable creating features and prioritizing based on the business need

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience systematically analyzing problems, drawing relevant conclusions, and devising appropriate courses of action
  • Experience simplifying digital consumer experiences
  • 2+ years of experience in business analysis and/or product owner in an agile environment
  • Proven track record of connecting digital experiences with key results
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using product management software AHA!
  • Experience utilizing Visio or Miro for process mapping
  • Experience in Healthcare
  • Experience in direct to consumer
  • 5+ years of experience in digital product management

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $85,000 to $167,300. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
