Product Engineering Intern (Summer 2023)

How you will make an impact:

• Thoroughly understand the problem that is driving the need for new products by being a part of communication with sales, product management and customers.
• Assist with developing unique and innovative product designs to solve identified problem statements by utilizing innovative thinking and knowledge of mechanical systems and manufacturing methods. Account for additional factors such as designing for quantity, serviceability, maintenance, customer interaction and usability, aesthetics, and appeal.
• Collaborate with the team to create a project plan, which will include but is not limited to: scope, assumptions, risks, milestones, and schedules for completion dates.
• Analyze product and equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods and work directly with internal and external shops and manufacturing teams to develop prototypes.
• Source strategic components needed for new designs and work with the Procurement team to prepare for future orders.

The skills and experience you’ll need:

• Must work well in teams but also be capable of seeking out information and self-learning as needed.
• Must be Proficient with MS Office software including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and a working knowledge of a wide variety of software packages, operating systems, and equipment.
• Currently enrolled in a degree Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Biomedical, Chemical, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
• Self-driven, motivated to learn and expected to be accountable for assigned tasks.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
